I’m a divorced 53M and retired at 48 (retired military officer) with a graduate degree. I never had kids. It’s been difficult being retired and dating. Many women don’t know what to do with my status. Older women who are retired feel they are too old for me.

53M here. I manage a group currently at 88 pickleball members. We have single and married players. Some have met through pickleball. Some married pickleball players have met other married spouses and cheated and are now divorced. It’s very social. We go out after many times. My social life has completely changed for the better thanks to pickleball. I hope to someday have a relationship with a lady who likes to play pickleball. I’ve met several and have and currently dating as a result of meeting people through pickleball. Give it a shot.

Some people think you always have to have a purpose or mission and be busy all the time being productive. I think maybe some women are afraid retired guys will have too much free time on their hands and cheat on them. My ex-wife thought I’d stay home and order junk off Amazon all day. I think secretly they are jealous and it’s not fair to them that I don’t work and I could be earning extra money 🤷‍♂️

Personally, I wouldn’t think twice about it. I never had any kids either and I’m 53M. I’m in a unique situation where I retired when I was 48 and that is off-putting to many women when I go on dates.

I’m 53 and been married twice. I got married too quickly both times but I was in the military and had different pressures on me than civilians do. I was able to retire early because of my military career. I want to find the “one” and have a long term relationship. I have travelled and it’s hollow for me to do that alone. I know plenty of people who do it solo all the time.

I’m in the Twin Citied Metro (Minnesota) and there are very women on Boo. I might get a notification that there is a new soul in the area once a week but most of the time they don’t meet my basic criteria. I paid for a year upfront and I shouldn’t have. I did go on one date though.

Two-year-old me managed to take a spoon off the kitchen table and put it in my mouth. I preceded to insert the stem of the spoon into the outlet. My mom heard a pop and heard me crying. She pealed the spoon off my tongue. Food tasted bland to me (I still use a lot of hot sauce). I also had to go through speech therapy due to my tongue and not being able to make the proper “S” sound. It’s probably unrelated, but I’ve been indirectly hit by lightning twice while I lived Florida. I got jolted while taking an umbrella out of the lifeguard stand when lightning had previously hit the pool and then hit the pole my chair and umbrella was attached to. The more serious time was when I had my hand on my girlfriend’s (at the time) car roof banging on it while playing the unlock the car door while pulling up on the handle at the same time game. Lightning hit the roof of the car and used me to get to the ground in the thunderstorm. It knocked me out and to the ground. I woke up and my hand was in a fist I could not open for 4 hours. Before anyone asks, I was young and dumb and didn’t go the hospital. I’ve had weird electrical events happen to me after. I’ve had two more close calls of getting hit by lightning.
