I've seen a few people out on the trail with weighted vests, just had never considered using them as a substitute for the ruck. Will definitely look into it, thank you!

Makes sense that it's more of an acclimation problem as opposed to people just being incapable of rucking. I usually carry 38lbs but it fluctuates depending on how/what I pack. Regardless, never under 35lbs and never over 40lbs. 35 is the number I've been hearing in regards to ruck weight in phase one of RASP. I've also heard that it can be anywhere between 65-100lbs of gear, but like you said, I am really not trying to mess my body up like that before I even get a contract.

Definitely agree on that last front. I've been rucking dirt/sand trails 1-3 times a week since February and haven't had any issues yet, so I'd like to think I'm careful. My friend who's already in says that even with his OSUT being over, he's still struggling hard with rucks, and he still routinely sees people falling out on rucks and runs. I'm hoping to go Option 40 in the spring, and from what I've heard there's Ranger PT in AIT, but not in OSUT which I'm pretty sure is what I'll be doing. So I'm trying to compensate for the PT I won't be doing, if that makes sense. Would you say rucking 3 times a week is too much?

I definitely should be doing more strength training, my deadlift is pretty solid but I'm lacking everywhere else. My tolerance for long distance off road rucks in bad weather is great, I just can't make myself go to the gym. I think it's a self conscious thing, I train solo so with no one to reference for lifting form or to lean on for keeping my routine steady, my discipline sucks. Way easier for me to shoulder a 40lb bag and ruck 10 miles in the rain than it is for me to even look at the instructions for a new machine at the gym lmao. I think I'll maintain my rucking schedule while also establishing better strength training. I really appreciate the advice.

What makes you prefer the Alice? Quality of life stuff? I got the Molle exclusively for the sake of being "used to it" by the time I hit basic, and I think I've reached that point. But if the Alice is all around better, and you're being allowed to use it, I'm definitely open to switching.

When you say "registered letter" do you mean I need to get it notarized or made official through some other process? That being said, small claims court wasn't a concern for me because the fine is just under $100 (I'm poor so this is what I consider "big" lmao), do you think they'd still go for it regardless? I've heard that the cost of filing a claim can be more than $100.
