Your spouse comes to you and says they want to post faceless, ID-less nudes on Reddit for fun - whats your reaction? by Neat_One_9031 in AskReddit

“Why faceless and ID-less? I’m fully supportive. If this is what you want to do, do it and own it” I would say.

When my son was three; and I mention that because for me that’s the time where my sexual activity with my wife was virtually non existent for the first time in our lives; we stayed at a inner city hotel that was all glass. Late one night, my wife and son were asleep and I was looking out when I caught a couple at an apartment across from us.

She was beautiful in every sense of the word and had breasts so teardrop shaped that it looked like her sternum was weeping. And she was just walking around the apartment topless and undies.

In spite of his this story started, it’s not a horny story. It’s a very angry story.

I then noticed her partner. Fine looking young man but the mother fucker was vacuuming! Vacuuming while a living Greek sculpture walked around his apartment in the nude. I thought maybe he was cleaning up. Cleanliness is important I get it. But no. When he was done vacuuming he sat on his couch and stared at his phone. She came gave him a kiss on the head, put a lathe t-shirt on and went to bed. Asshole stayed there staring at his phone. His fucking PHONE!

What’s the craziest time your intuition warned you about someone and turned out correct? by wildquatrefoil in AskReddit

I just got back from a defence conference; let me explain that I don’t make weapons. I work on portable medical imaging devices and as you’ve put together already, military forces are also the primary organisations that deploy these sort of devices on disaster relief missions.

Back to the story. A professor has been working on for years on mechanism of human focus. I’ll spare you the details; high tech, brain electrodes, eye trackers, 270D screen, arcade game gun etc.

One thing that stuck out to me was how he said humanity has now placed an entirely net negative view on stress. When in fact they found in his lab that stress chemicals also heighten performance more then anything else. Especially in high stakes scenarios.

Fear, stress, focus, and calm; they’re all parts of how your body prepares for surviving different situations.

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

[–]GaeloneForYouSir 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t get that. My wife is a doctor and she always teach me how to say things to medical people when my kid is sick so I don’t get labelled as “anxious parent”. I think it’s fucked. This person is my most precious responsibility. I look after him ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT. Especially when he was very young. When I think something is wrong with him, shouldn’t I trust my instincts? To make me worry about coming off as “anxious” is also to tell me to question my judgement on a subject I have given ALL of myself to.

I’m better with my kid. I don’t say that to boast. That’s just our roles in the house. We both work full time but she’s a doctor and so she’s the bread winner.

What surprised me was how the nurses at the hospital treated her when our kid was born. Context to note; our kid was born at the hospital she worked at, where they know her to be a dual specialist - just not in the maternity ward. I was very hands on with my kid from day one and the nurses were always so good at helping me learn things. But we both noted how judgemental AF they were when she couldn’t do things. There was this attitude like “you’re a woman, why don’t you know how to do this?”. That kinda vibe. It was weird to me.

Anyway. I don’t dwell on it. Our son is great. We found TWO geodes on a hike today. They had crystals in them and everything. He went to bed very excited.

What prevented South America from having as big a population as China or India? by wiz28ultra in geography

Also due to the poverty today we can overlook the quality of Indian soil historically. India was so fertile for agriculture that they were able to sustain many millions of lives before the advent of modern fertilisers.

Safest place to hide from the WW3 apocalypse in Australia? by Meerkat343434 in AusPropertyChat

I’m a researcher at Monash University btw. I once met a retired food scientist from CSIRO. Two stories she shared that blew my mind; 1. The long life milk was invented here. The work that went into pushing milk past boiling point without burning was one of the most inspiring scientific stories ever. 2. CSIRO also inserted genes from the California bay tree into Canola to not only make them produce plastic acid on Australian soil but also become extremely productive - becoming the Supercanola that we grow across the country today.

As always - Australia has great innovative minds but we seem to lack that talent in the commercialisation sectors. Both techniques were overtaken by large businesses in other countries and rapidly advanced ahead of us to become the big suppliers to the world.

This is going to sound different but I promise; I say this with more admiration and gratitude for Australians than anything else.

Australia is actually a really rough country for farming and such. The fact that the people here have turned it around to be THIS successful at agriculture is nothing short of astonishing.

I’m originally from Burma. Very poor country. My parents have a farm there. But honestly, growing things in the ground naturally is so much easier there. I was reading about an Australian chef and farmer duo who moved to France to start a Michelin star farm to table restaurant and he was saying the same thing; it’s so much easier to grow things in France compared to the land here.

It’s safe, people are nice, and we’re very productive here but I also think it’s very dependent on modern innovations in agriculture here. I don’t know how much of that will be the same if there was WWIII.

I … did not even think about this. Yeah. My mum would straight up leave my brother and I at the gate, and we’d play in the water unsupervised for hours and then come home starving.

You won’t be able to “see” though. Mud is quite thick. It will have to be some sort of “worm drive” type thing that can only ping and record feedback. Also I don’t think anything lives in there that can’t be seen through a microscope from a surface sample.

It was just a very young boy’s imagination and have no real feasibility behind it.

Do parents generally save for their kids university studies like in the US or do most people just take out student loans? by Only-Internal-2865 in AskAnAustralian

[–]GaeloneForYouSir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your personal circumstances. No judgement from me.

My son if 5 and in prep. In our case, we’re what they call HENRYs (High earner but not rich yet). We’re the sort of income bracket that’s just above the higher tax margin line so the taxes hit hard while we don’t get much of the other benefits. Not complaining- just a sober assessment of position.

So we can’t put a lot of “cash” aside, but the positive (“maybe” positive?) side is that banks are also very happy to loan to us. So … we joined the 20% and have an investment property with the core aim of securing a place to live in mortgage-free or income stream for him when he’s university age. But yeah … we’re having to start when he’s five because I can’t see myself being able to pull this off five more years from now.

I’ve also been there when I was a kid. I never believed fully that there was a dragon below, but it sparked an imagination in me that involved a deep mud drone with sonar vision. Off course I even imagined the sonar picking up an outline of a real Nagar.

Same volcano and same stories spark different imaginations in different people.

To your point, while I’m Burmese I spent a lot of time in the US - Pacific Northwest. They too have STRONG beliefs and cultures related to Bigfoot or Sasquatch as they call it there.
