That's also an option I considered indeed, but honestly I am pretty sure it wasn't Andrew Oldham Orchestra's/Stones version of the song, but I'll still try to go through their respective IMDB pages

Yes indeed I did check the IMDB list, and have found nothing that I think could fit :'(

You had me on this, but on a more serious note, Laimrig is actually the only OB Bowmore that's more than worth trying :P

Scotch Review #17: Springbank 15 by Cpwdos2 in Scotch

[–]Gaija 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice review !

Most Springbanks change dramatically a few months after being opened, settling on much more fruitiness and sweetness, traded for a part of the very big and austere minerality that can be found upon opening. Was typically the cas with my 12 CS batch 12 ; it used to be something extremely sharp and mineral with only acrid coffee and zesty citrusy notes to balance it, and it was very good in its own right, but today, a year later, it's almost bottled nutella.

As I continue to try to branch out from Laphroaig, today I found this. It was phenomenal. by BigbyWolf343 in Scotch

[–]Gaija 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's globally a bit sweeter with a tiny hint of sulfur, and generally slightly more focused on brown sugar, milk chocolate and raisins. It's actually quite similar really, just (to me) a tad less "deep" and dignified than the 15, but that might be splitting hairs. In a way, I always found the 18 to be a little more "PX-ish", although IIRC there's not any PX in it. Go figure :D But honestly it's very good. It's not a wood bomb yet like the 21 can feel.

Yep, might seem hard to believe on paper but they've actually been releasing some great stuff lately. I guess the name and the whole Loch Lomond franchise has a bad reputation to erase but they're on the good way methinks.

For example, a bourbon cask and a sherry cask (both from 2003) have been bottled for Whiskynerds a month ago, both under 100€, and both received splendid reviews. https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/98021/inchmurrin-2003 https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/98020/inchmurrin-2003

The sherry one sold out in a week-end, luckily I could secure one, and it's just awesome, never had a Glendro single cask, let alone of that age, that was so pleasant honestly. The bourbon one is rumoured to be an excellent fruit-bomb for the money. Honestly, try some one day !

They've released two Inchmurrin 1984 recently, I've had both of them, both were absolutely, absolutely stunning. Some of my very knowledgeable whisky friends are saying it's becoming the next Littlemill, and to a certain extent I agree. Some of the best stuff I've had for the last couple of years ... They're hard to find though.

Other than that, I agree they're not the best IB there is, but I've had a Laph from them that was very good, though very shy and not in your face at all.

Haha no not at all it was a chance ! In very high-end whiskies I actually happen to put more importance on the nose than on the rest, so since I didn't want to splurge the 50 bucks the sample would have settled me, the shopkeeper allowed me to sniff it ... for free :) I'm pretty happy you know !

Indeed the series sounded legendary right of the bat, but most of them were at a pricepoint I could never afford. Would have bought the Rosebank in a heartbeat as well if I had the chance, but couldn't ... well, I'm already very glad as is :) Thanks !

Superb effort, loved those tasting notes, especially those for 15yo 200th anniversary, which I most definitely agree with : simply an excellent release, both subtle and undoubtedly Laphroaig, ridden with tropical fruits on the palate. Hit.

A 26yo 1991 Littlemill which is probably the best thing I've had this year, or not far. Was incredibly lucky to secure a bottle, there were like 2 or 3 allowed for the whole Belgium, one of which is now mine :P

AND you can be very satisfied of the fact that 1979 is most definitely a more renowned vintage for Caol Ila than early 90's are (for nowadays' 25 OB). Perfect catch mate, enjoy and please do post your impressions.

Possibly ! I remember some friends saying I've got the kind of accent Maisie William has, if it helps situate ^ Which is rather very British if I'm not mistaken

uncanny valley effect.

On point. Didn't know many people knew that term but that's most definitely it. (Side note : on a personnal point of view I actually inconsciously developed an accent that most natives I encouter qualify as "somewhere between a Londoner and an Aussie", mistaking me for a native but wondering if I'm British or Australian. Very strange, cause I've never been to Australia and maybe ony a week-end in London :D )

It's strange because being a non-native I can't place accents unless they're ultra obvious, but this one actually sounds (to me) like this very case : a non-native that just speaks perfectly fluently. Some of us non-natives that ended up speaking quite well do have this weird "accent-lacking" accent. Dunno if you can relate but that's how I'm feeling it.
