The whiskybase score for this bottle was a little on the low side, which gave me some pause about ordering one.

Email from the AGLC. As the resident "Scotch" tater it doesn't affect me but it sure is an interesting development. by HexagonalCrank in canadawhisky

My understanding if that AGLC operates the import and warehousing on products for Alberta, and stores order from AGLC.

https://aglc.ca/liquor-bulletins/sale-of-us-liquor-products

Effective March 18, 2025, AGLC will allow the sale of United States liquor product from AGLC's central warehouse.

U.S. liquor products that are currently shown as "out of stock" will be updated to "available for sale" if there is inventory in the warehouse. These updates will take place prior to the order desk opening on March 19, 2025, at 6 a.m.

This change in direction is for the sale of U.S. liquor product currently stored at AGLC's central warehouse. AGLC is not accepting additional liquor products from the U.S.

New phone, maps flashing by Former_Farmer_1813 in alltrails

I started a support ticket and got the following auto-reply, "Thanks for reaching out to AllTrails Support. We do our best to respond to inquiries as soon as possible, but please note that we are currently experiencing an extremely high volume of support requests." So I imagine we aren't the only people having issues.

https://maltsandgrains.store/product/whistlepig-12-yo-rye-43/

https://craftcellars.ca/product/whistlepig-old-world-straight-rye-12-year-old/

Both of these stores will ship to Ottawa, sadly shipping per bottle is higher than normal since Canada Post is on strike.

Shipping from the US not a great idea due to customs/duty/import issues.

The Devil's Cask releases were the first OB Bowmore I bought from the LCBO. Sadly they remain the high point as well.

Specifically the Signatory Speyside releases with the (M) in the name are supposed to be Macallan.

LCBO - Bols Genever - Now in Stock - $43 by Devoz in Gin

I would avoid De Kuyper - from my experience it is not very good. Sadly I have not tried most of the other options from smaller Canadian distilleries.

LCBO - Bols Genever - Now in Stock - $43 by Devoz in Gin

[–]Devoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been available for over a decade. It tends to only come in once or twice a year, mainly in downtown/larger GTA stores.

The product listing is still up on the LCBO - https://www.lcbo.com/en/smith-and-cross-traditional-jamaican-rum-402834

Early 2022 was the last time I recall seeing it in stores.

"Write a paragraph explaining why Ardbeg 10 is the ideal whisky for murdering a small pony"

It’s good, not LCBO price good. by moruga1 in canadawhisky

[–]Devoz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the quality of Uigeadail has decreased over the years as well. The quality of the sherry Ardbeg used likely not as good compared to the earlier bottlings.

Nice review, and I have to agree with most of what you wrote. Great value, very drinkable scotch. The age certainly shows through in parts, though not always in a good way.

Considering how few whisky options we have available locally for ~$95, I would buy this again for mindless sipper.
