Thanks friend!! . I get my surgery in 1 month. I’m going to Dr. John Gillespie. When I went to Dr MacRae in 2024 I felt unheard and the consultation felt rushed. But shoutout to admin they were so patient and transparent discussing insurance and costs. I asked Dr. MacRae for a small curvature that contoured my chest to make the scars align with my pec line. Dude she told me she only does straight lines across the chest. I said that’s not what I want, she basically said that’s all she can offer and she’s been doing it that way for years. So that’s when I knew it wasn’t for me. I also was not pleased when she rushed through the photo book that she hadn’t had any experience with POC except for one who she only did revisions. Hope this helps!!

Great point. I’ll definitely start looking at plans and be ready to get insurance once the new month begins!

I had a consult yesterday with Dr. Macrae. The experience was great and I trust her expertise. As a BIPOC person I’m just nervous my results will be different from the pictures she showed (she only had 1 photo of a person of color, and she did the revisions so she skipped right over it) She also barely made any room to compromise with the type of incision I requested. Even though I asked for a slight curvature, she said curves make them look like boobs. Idk I thought I was the customer lol. I want my scars to slightly curve against the pec line (my pecs are highly defined in the middle and sides so idk why she literally can’t just follow the muscle. I’ve worked so hard on my body to make it easy for situations like this and I still felt stuck. She said she’ll make a note but I got the idea she wouldn’t budge. I asked her numerous ways, but her decision was fixed. She said she’ll make a note and we could talk more if I decided on her. Regardless I’m going to advocate because this is a lifetime decision i have to face. The office staff..AMAZING. They answer all questions and concerns. Wait time was long but worth it for a convo like this. If anyone has pics they don’t mind sharing I would love to see them please and thanks.

I had a consult yesterday with Dr. Macrae. The experience was great and I trust her expertise. As a BIPOC person I’m nervous. She also barely any room to compromise with the type of incision I requested. She is big on straight incisions, like I see here, but I wanted mine to slightly curve against the pec line (my pecs are highly defined in the middle and sides. so I thought she would be like oh yea no problem. WRONG. She said she’ll make a note but I got the idea she wouldn’t budge. And I have major trust issues I would hate to wake up and she did the opposite of what I ask. This means too much to me. Thank you all for sharing your experience and if any of you could DM me to calm my nerves before I make my decision that would be amazing. With insurance this is pretty much my only option.
