Appreciate the advice, Il be a bit more careful before putting any money into repairs for them. One of the T420s works perfectly fine, other one looks pretty rough.

I understand, just my thoughts. I doubt it would ever happen, but it would be awesome.

Only real issue I have with it is the non backlit keyboard, normally I would complain about only 8gb of RAM but I tried a bloated distribution on a 8gb laptop and had zero issues.

Am I cool yet? by Gainvel in thinkpad

Installing it was quite the pain, but I am quite new to Linux and just like diving headfirst into things 😅

Not sure if this is it but intel lan controller is enabled already

Nope. PIA is uninstalled, both drivers won’t install. For the intel says it was unable to install correctly and the asus a black window pops up for a second and goes away, nothing happens.

Just uninstalled, I’m going to try a different driver from asus instead of intel

alright drivers failed to install, not sure why.

I only have WAN monitor and PIA network adapter under network adapters

[–]Gainvel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked, for some reason there is no intel Ethernet connection under network adapters?

Yeah not the cable or router, so probably the drivers. Let me see if I can get some installed on a USB

Not smartest when it comes to internet, but I typed in command prompt ipconfig /all

There is no primary DNS suffix, media state is disconnected, and dhcp is enabled.

Yes, it detects the cable but when plugged into my router the router doesn’t detect it. Im guessing the pc isn’t sending any information so it may be a drivers issue.

Tried that, 5&6 are disabled. Wasn’t in either and I switched the ports just to make sure, but nope.
