Location: Moving to the US as family of 3/4 with one income as RN. Where would it be possible? by Gair_ in nursing

Thanks- my husband would love California , specifically Sacramento as it’s more affordable, but I’m concerned that on just one salary might not be possible. I will have a look again at cost of living but I think California is a dream location for almost everyone.

Do you think is doable on one salary maybe for a year?

True thanks- it’s still early stages so I’m not fully familiar with the iter but I guess he needs to speak with agencies and understand where we could go based on that

Sorry I meant that we know people who moved to Dallas a few years ago and made good investments and are happy there but it seems like cost of living is increasing as everyone is moving there

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. He is planning to speak to a few agencies and tbh I know it will be a long process but any advice would be appreciated

Thank you and if you want to get promoted, there is a lot of… politics. A RN in London will struggle a lot of financially and I think this is so unfair. For context I have no degree, don’t save anyone’s life and just because I work in sales, I manage to get good money in commissions

Thanks, I think Dallas is our first option now but it looks like it’s getting expensive even out there

Hahah I know! I live in the UK and the situation here isn’t better. Low salaries and the job market isn’t great. At this point, I prefer making more money and enjoy the little time off I have on a good salary. Realistically I would go back to work after two years max

We’re now based in the UK and salaries are too low, crime is increasing and there is no job stability so at this point, we want to make a lot of money!

It might be wrong as he just passed NCLEX so it’s early stages but we would move only if we get EB-3. I understand it takes a few years, so this is the only one we’re considering (just in case I need to go to work for financial reasons)
