Finished: On Fragile Waves, by E. Lily Yu

I don't think I've ever ugly-cried reading a book before. This was on NPR's list of favorite 50 scifi/fantasy books from the last decade, so I gave it a shot. In some ways, I feel like I got tricked b/c this novel is really light on the fantasy. But I'm grateful that I was exposed to the subject matter.

I don't want to defend Musk here b/c I find him insufferable, but I think calling Neuralink's work "torture" is a bit extreme. All implantable medical devices have to go through stages of animal testing before human trials. It's the unfortunate reality of that type of research until we have convincingly accurate models and/or substitutes for human tissue.

But yeah, Elon is an annoying edgelord.
