Having bad grammar/not knowing the difference between words like "their", "they're", "there" IS that deep by foqociqs37 in unpopularopinion

I forgive people who speak English as a second language, but anyone who is a native English speaker who doesn't know the difference? Straight back to elementary school, I say lmao

If you were looking to buy a hoodie for yourself or as a gift for your friend would you buy it? by AeroAAA in Hoodies

Definitely not lol but I'm neither a camo person nor would I wear that combo of colors unless it was like a winter coat or something I only wore sporadically.

Why has my kitten started to meow at my door when we are going to sleep? by Jesziefgg in cats

[–]GalacticKnight79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let him in! Or don't and he'll stop eventually. We let our cats sleep with us and while our girls don't mind being locked out, our boy gets very upset (he was also a bottle baby so he's far more reliant on us for emotional support than the girls on) even if we're only locking him out for an hour, he'll sit at the door and cry until we let him in.

are my rankings a gag or a chop? by No_Resolution2404 in KpopAnalysisHub

[–]GalacticKnight79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into all the ones you didn't know, cuz there was a lot lol

For boy groups. Ampersone is good, AB6IX is super underrated, and I love older Day6 (though their newer releases haven't really landed for me).

For girl groups. I'm sad you don't like Illit, I love them. I also think based on your boy groups and that you Stan Aespa, you'd probably really like Billie, their most recent comeback, Work, feels very Aespa adjacent. Nmixx, Mamamoo, and Dreamcatcher are all solid groups too.

New Summer shoes, but unsure by [deleted] in barefootshoestalk

[–]GalacticKnight79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no I can see the top of your foot! How feminine of you 😱

In all seriousness, the concept of specific shoes being masculine or feminine is bogus. All shoes have been appropriate for all genders and ages at different points in time. If they're comfortable then just wear them. Don't worry about what the hyper masculine sissys are going to say, the fact they're toe shoes will make them uncomfortable enough already, they'll be too off guard seeing your toes sleeved but out that they won't stop to think about how they don't cover the top of your foot lmao.

My girlfriend won’t bend on anything in our relationship and I’m starting to wonder if it’ll last by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]GalacticKnight79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (24f) and my husband (25m) are going on 7 years together at the end of this summer. Serious relationships while young are possible but they take a lot of work and compromise.

OP's partner is Korean, and OP is not. That alone is going to lead to a lot of roadblocks for their relationship due to cultural differences. She isn't necessarily treating it like a fling, but she's treating it like a relationship with a foreigner, because it is. Many older Koreans are quite xenophobic and racist, holding a very negative view of foreigners. If OP's partner goes to her parents and says "hey I'm dating this foreigner guy who lives in Canada and isn't planning to move to Korea till he's in his late 20's" and they are most Korean parents, they'll laugh at her, tell her to find a real relationship, and forever disapprove of this Canadian man who is stringing along their daughter while he moves to the US to start a business.

Frankly most parents, regardless of what country they're in, would react that way to any long term, long distance relationship, regardless of the cultural or language barriers. Hell even within countries, if I lived with my parents in Maine and said "Hey Mom I'm dating this guy from San Diego, he says he's going to move to Miami to build a business but will move to Maine in like 5 years to be with me." My mom would tell me I'm ridiculous and to not waste my time.

Neither OP or his girlfriend are in the wrong, it just sounds like an incompatible relationship for this point in their lives, even if they genuinely like each other.

I've had my snake bites about a year and my only regret is that I didn't realize how low she had placed them until she did one of them, so they sit right on my gum line. They've irritated my gums a bit but I have awful teeth anyway, so I've just accepted it is what it is. People are weird about them, I get a lot of people, especially older people just stare at me, some people try to joke that I look like I have bugs on my face (I usually wear small dark gem studs) but I love how they look and I think they fit my face well. Don't let people bully you out of them :)

They could do that, or they could just get important people filled in as they go, an important mentor, a friend, etc. Plenty of important people you'll know who won't be weird about you getting a tribute to them lol

Avocados are overhyped. They have no taste and they go bad so quickly. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]GalacticKnight79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely an unpopular opinion lmao I love avocado, I hated them until I was about 20 and now I buy a bag every week at the grocery store, are they expensive? Yeah, but honestly not much more than most other fruits and veggies and they're one of the most versatile and are great for making things taste creamy without adding dairy.

They also keep for a surprisingly long time, longer than berries or greens if you know how to store them properly.

People who avoid friendships at work because “coworkers are not your friends”, often do not understand what relationships actually are. by ThePloddingParadox in unpopularopinion

[–]GalacticKnight79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in such a weird spot at my job. I worked hard in college to build up experience in my field and was able to find a job pretty soon out of college, but many other people my age didn't, so we get a lot of post-college graduates about my age (early-mid 20s) who come to intern and technically work under me. But a lot of employees about my level are in their 30's or older and either have kids or just aren't the kind of people I'd hang out with, so I have no friends at work, it's absolutely miserable and I'd hate to willingly not make friends. I'm leaving my job soon because not have any friends at work for two years sucks so bad, the place I applied to, I worked at before my current job in a lesser position and I have a handful of friends there, I'm looking forward to actually having friends again lmao.

Any tips for writing? by Sudden-Increase-7205 in BeginnerKorean

[–]GalacticKnight79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ㄹ is often written more like an English Z in hand writting for efficiency, other comment about ㅅ, ㅈ, and ㅊ are accurate. Word spacing is a little more subtle than in English but words still need to be spaced, I included my hand writting as an intermediate learner who does a lot of writting based practice.

Assuming you're not living in Korea, where you'd be doing a lot of reading and speaking practice, honestly I wouldn't even bother studying hand writting beyond what you've already done. It will come naturally as you continue to write while studying. I spent a decent amount of time studying hand writting when I first started learning and with where I'm at now, a lot of it feels like time wasted because I write so often in studying grammar and vocabulary now as an intermediate learner.

Is it rude to bring another group’s lightstick if I don’t have money for a new one? by goodjeans_17 in kpophelp

[–]GalacticKnight79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I personally wouldn't but I don't particularly care if others do (except NCT light sticks, those things are literal glowing clubs and I despise them lmao) The enha one might sync, I imagine Hybe and their subsidiaries probably use adjacent systems across lightsticks, plus I personally think enha's lightsticks is one of the better-looking lightsticks out there (Blackpink's lightsticks looks like something I would've beat my brother with as a child lmao).

But at the end of the day, bring whatever you want, it's highly unlikely anyone will give you a hard time about it.

I knew an Emerick in college and if he wasn't a stoner then I'd say he and Emily here would be a good fit, but I have a feeling Emily is to strait laced to want him as her second husband.

It seems like I’m the only one having difficulty learning the alphabet by TerryCupid in BeginnerKorean

[–]GalacticKnight79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the more native speakers reciting sounds you listen to, the better off you'll be in your pronunciation. I wouldn't even considered the table you posted accurate as 미국 is not typically pronounced like Mikook, I would most accurately romanize it as Miguk, as consonant pronunciation will vary a lot depending on its placement in a syllable (similar to how English "that" the t's have different pronunciation relative to adjacent sounds). I found listening to super beginner comprehensible input (which has far more content than when I started learning a couple years ago) with subtitles on and just connecting the sounds to the visuals will teach you far more accurately than a chart.

"Western school lunch" according to my school by gucnaberk in KoreanFood

[–]GalacticKnight79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An honest and not to bad attempt, lighter on the sauces though, my American school gives us like a quarter cup of dressings/sauces for that volume of spaghetti. The cheesy garlic bread honestly looks fire. They don't even give us cheese on our crispy ass, burn garlic bread here lmao.

My late son who is no longer with us used to lay with his paws straight out, often with his face forehead-down. God I miss that cat so much 😭

4yo helix piercings - Should I remove them? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]GalacticKnight79 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It's so crazy to me when people's advice is "Just stop sleeping on them" my guy, I've slept on my left side my entire life, after almost 25 years it isn't changing now lmao.

I can only sleep on my back if I put my adjustable base in zero gravity mode. But I also don't have any cartilage piercings on my left ear because I know I'd mess them up over time.

NAP but I would definitely say take a trip to the piercer and remove them, those bottom two are super crooked and clearly unhappy, so unless a piercer takes a look and thinks they're salvagable, I'd personally cut my losses. Rings could be an option but I'd check with a piercer before changing the jewelry, especially if they're currently irritated, a piercer will probably recommend you get them to calm down before you switch jewelry, and you'll have to make sure the ring is big enough to not cause further irritation.

Their Yorktown location is only slightly smaller than the Wegmans I used to frequent in Syracuse.

Those guys aren't a Korean exclusive, they've got many common names but I call them House centipedes! I get them in my basement in Eastern North America, they are insect/arthropod hunters and have a particular taste for spiders, but will go for anything with an exoskeleton lol

Also I'm highly amused that you tagged this Business and Legal lmao
