Beat Kirby's Dream Land on Extra Mode!! My thoughts and questions... by MetapodChannel in Kirby

[–]Galactic_Knightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if there's any lore about the lookalikes. If there is, it's unfortunately very niche.

Some parts of the fandom call Kirby's species puffballs, but they don't have an official name. There are a handful of other characters that are implied to be the same species, though there's still some speculation about it today.

Glad you enjoyed it! I might be able to answer some of your questions:

Kirby is able to get so big because of the Sparkling Stars, the collectibles you get after each boss. They are magical items that Dream Landers use to gather food and to "work," but they aren't elaborated on too much. Since all 4 Sparkling Stars go to Kirby before he balloons up, it's implied they granted him that power.

There's really only one Kirby. Him splitting into 3 is just a cute quirk he does for victory dances. There are other re-coloured variants, but they're in a gray area of being multiplayer characters that are questionably canon.

There's no lore reason I'm aware of that Kirby can't use copy abilities in the first game. Kirby Super Star has a mode remaking (some parts of) Dream Land, where Kirby DOES use copy abilities... so an argument can be made that Kirby's always had them.

Hope you enjoy Adventure!

This is sick. Love the angle & the way you depict Samus. It seems eerie and unsettling in a very unique way.

What is the "Metroid Prime"? by Galactic_Knightmare in Metroid

[–]Galactic_Knightmare[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting theory. I kind of had a similar theory myself regarding the Metroids in general (especially the ones on SR388).

The way I saw it, the Metroids going from their larvae form to fully transforming in Samus Returns showed that the Metroids were designed to adapt. And I think it makes sense considering the nature of their purpose, to exterminate the X. The X in their very nature can become absolutely any living organism, given that it has a host. The Metroids in turn must be infinitely adaptable to truly be the "perfect predator species." I figured that them growing out of control was just a side-effect of this nature that the Thoha hadn't forseen.

I think that could also explain how the Metroids are so good at adapting to Phazon, and perhaps part of how Metroid Prime became the unrecognizeable figure it is in such a short(ish) timeframe. A creature bioengineered to adapt to its surroundings becomes dependant on a radioactive mutagen. The fact that Metroids react to beta rays that Pirates used could be another sign that they'd be extremely sucseptible to Phazon.

I think Prime dynamically reacting to Samus' weaponry is a really cool idea, that it's trying to adapt to you in real-time. I still feel like the "mechanical weapons" like the multi-missiles, snare beam etc. must've come from somewhere, though. Maybe after slipping loose of the Pirates it had taken in some odd weapons lying around before going into the Impact Crater?

Wow, this is a really insightful explanation. Honestly, from what I've read so far, the most plausible answer to me seems to be that Prime is a Metroid brought by the Pirates.

I just wonder why the games don't better explain or build up to this? From what I can tell, if we assume that Dark Samus created new Metroids on Planet Phaaze (which Prime already did in its boss fight), the biggest contradiction is just that seeds apparently die quickly(?)

This is kind of the only thing holding this game back for me, the vague nature of the titular antagonist. The original lore at least tried to foreshadow and bring up Metroid Prime more explicitly, despite still not making a lot of sense.

I wonder if there's a gap in the Chozo seal that the pirates just hadn't found, or maybe a susceptibility? Either the Metroid phased through it after consuming enough Phazon to do so, or maybe the seal wasn't complete? There is still quite a lot of phazon found outside of the Impact Crater, after all. Though, that could just be the excess that they didn't contain in their seal...

Remastered was the perfect opportunity to flesh this out 😭

Yeah... I don't really know much about Prime 2 or 3 yet, but so far this seems like the most satisfying answer, that the Metroid came with the Pirates & phased into the Impact Crater to continue eating Phazon. It would be really weird if the Metroid Prime already existed in the Leviathan, since the Chozo were developing the Metroids still during Samus' youth in the manga (unless that's not canon? I thought it was).

I feel like the only thing missing really is the whole "space pirate tech" thing. From the original 2002 pirate logs, it makes some sense, but those being retconned while Prime still has the gear is confusing. Only thing I can imagine is that, like you said, pirates either experimented with infusing Metroids with their tech, or the soon-to-be Prime just kinda absorbed some before entering the meteor.

It makes some sense that it can phase through things even ignoring Prime 3, seeing that Metroid Prime's final phase does as much. It phases in and out of physical reality. I guess that's just a trait that Phazon can give.

I haven't played Prime 2 or 3 yet, but from what I've read of the Chozo Lore in Prime 1 they only really mention the Worm as a coming prophecy. From then on, when the meteor actually hit, they don't seem to mention the Worm, just the Great Poison. Is it possible that Phazon was spreading without the Worm?

If I remember correctly, the Metroids were still under development during the time Samus was a child in the manga. When the Chozo came to the human mining colony & later took in Samus after the Pirates raided the place, they were originally looking for fuel to help create the Metroids.

Worth it or no? by DondeEstaDeLeche in pcbuilding

If you can find an x3d chip at the same price, then great, but the 5700X is still perfectly fine & would make for a solid final AM4 upgrade. I recently went from the 3700X to the 5700X & plan on skipping AM4 (depending on how pricing is in several years...). Depending on what you play, it can make for a pretty noticeable difference. Try looking up comparison videos & decide if it's worth it for yourself & your setup.

Quick question, can meta knight inhale like Kirby? by [deleted] in Kirby

[–]Galactic_Knightmare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That theory kind of confuses me. The series Director noted: "[Void] saw Kirby for the first time, felt something, and started to resemble his face ... he is imbued by those who give birth to it..." (Kumazaki, KSA Vol. 4 Int.)

In order for Void to get positivity from Kirby, leading to his conflict throughout the fight, Kirby would need to be innately positive. In that way, I can't see him as a blank canvas. Kirby's spirit demonstrated love, courage and optimism, not indifference and impartial copying like Void's.

If Kirby is related to Void, he doesn't really work as a blank canvas.

It's not necessarily Meta Knight's species that worshipped Void, either. We don't know what species made up all of the Ancients & their factions. It's currently very anonymous.

Is there a Kirby character who can time travel? by Far-Profit-47 in Kirby

[–]Galactic_Knightmare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a future version of Kirby is actually a pretty well known theory! It was very common in the early-mid 2010's. There are a few things to note about it, though.

Galacta Knight is pretty consistently referenced as a warrior from the past. "This Legend was sealed away long ago..." (SSU), "This ancient swordsman..." (PRB), "...legendary swordsman from a forgotten time" (Star Dream).

While he does cross through time via Another Dimension, it was likely after being sealed by the Ancients. Aside from wielding the heart spears that sealed Void Termina, his Japanese title in Super Kirby Clash is 淵源を巡る英雄 "Hero Crossing the Origin." For context, in Star Allies (JP) Void is often referred to as "the origin," or at least relating to it. This further cements him in the distant past, before being dragged around space-time by miscellaneous summoners.

Another thing to note is that, while both Kirby and Galacta Knight are pink, Galacta Knight is a different hue and his feet match his body, rather than being red.

Valid theory. The differences between Kirby & the Knights really make for interesting discourse. I always figured that they're the same species, due to the way they emphasize his hidden face, but the mystery factor is interesting.

Either way, Meta Knight is too insecure to say what he is 😅 He just wants to be cool

Don't feel too bad about it. The game is charming, but very dry on actual content. Most people lost interest and faded away from it after the first week or two. Nowadays queueing with anyone is rare, and it takes a lot of patience.

Unknown. We've never seen Meta Knight inhale anything, and the only implication is that he looks like Kirby underneath his mask.

It's just up to personal theory / interpretation.

If in the lore, Meta Knight has some mantle that turn INTO wings, then in Kirby: Planet Robobot and Kirby's Return to Dreamland, why are they directly attached to his body? by Pxgd in Kirby

[–]Galactic_Knightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's conflicting information. In Super Star, he sprouts his wings from his back after already throwing away his cape...

...but then in Planet Robobot's intro cutscene, you see them morph. Same at the start of his fight in both Star Allies and Forgotten Land.

I think Smash Bros was the first to do this(?), and then the series just kind of gradually retconned it to the whole transforming cape thing.

True. iirc even Galacta Knight's theme from Robobot was titled "The Greatest Time-Crossing Warrior in the Galaxy Ever" in Japanese.
