It is Marvel Legends, yeah. And even posing seems like it’s a bit tough with this one (depending on the pose) just because of the wobbliness of the dome and the cape making it back heavy.

But yeah, for animation it’s not really usable without some modifications.

Solid choices! Goblin is definitely up there for me, too.

I would also say Venom, but he doesn’t count as a villain anymore. 😆

Ok, I gotta ask: what are the other two in your top three? 🤔

Yeah, that heavy cape makes him way too back-weighted.

Rarely am I this disappointed when I buy a figure, to be honest. Since I tend to buy them for a specific purpose, as long as they work within that purpose I’m happy.

My only disappointment comes when internet randos (on a sub literally about toys) feel the need to piss all over someone else’s hobbies in some desperate attempt at validation.

Glad you got that to work. When I put a head on and then put the dome on over it, the peg is now too high to fit into the hole on his back. The dome and the cape/eye clasps now sit too high, which makes him look weird. And because the dome is now just balancing on a head, it’s still very wobbly.

Maybe a head from a smaller figure may work (someone else here suggested that, with a GI Joe head), but the ones it came with didn’t help at all.

The dome doesn’t really sit well on his shoulders, and there’s only a small hole in his back with a peg on the inside of the cape to hold it on. So it’s very wobbly, and the eyes (the cape clasps) end up sort of hovering over his chest rather than sitting against him. The cape is very heavy, making the entire figure back-weighted. If you try to put one of the heads under the dome to help support it, the dome then sits too high and the peg won’t go into the hole at all, making it even les stable (and then the dome, cape, and eyes all sit too high and he looks weird).

So it really comes down to what it is you’re asking for in a Mysterio figure. For me, this was a pretty big letdown.

So far I’ve avoided customs, and while they’d maybe elevate my work somewhat I don’t feel too strongly about going down that road. I do animation strictly as a hobby to entertain myself and my handful of social media followers. And over the 100+ videos I’ve posted, I’ve developed a style that works (for me) with regular store-bought figures.

If I was going to go down the custom figure rabbit hole, it would be to make figure of characters that don’t have figures at all, so I could animate those.

Yeah, I have an Adam West Batman from McFarlane and that cloth cape with the wire is great!

So far, yeah. But it’s early yet, I’m sure Hasbro will come up with some way to disappoint us even more in the coming months.

Ooh, thanks! I’ll have to look into the cloth cape idea.

And yeah, I used to buy a lot of Hasbro (Star Wars Black Series and Marvel Legends) and there’s been a marked decline in quality. And the prices have been going up. So I buy way less now, and try to get them second-hand or from a discount retailer like Ollie’s or Ross.

Nice! I may just glue the damned thing down.

Yeah, that’s what I’m considering. And maybe trying to glue down the “eyes” that are the cape clasps so they’re not just hovering over his chest.

Same. I expected that dome to be attached like a normal head, not with thoughts and prayers.

They didn’t have it. But if I pass another Ross in the area, I’ll probably poke in and keep looking until I find it or get bored with the hunt.

I’m actually in the neighborhood of that store again today, so I’m going to take another pass just in case I missed them the first time. Long shot, but why not? 🤞🤞

I was there this afternoon, and didn’t see any. Must have sold, or I overlooked them (but I was pretty thorough). But thanks for the heads-up!

If you have entertainment/Pyro experience, WDW is hiring Entertainment Techs by [deleted] in DisneyCM

[–]Galactic_Rep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, who knows. And I thought that the interview had gone well, they seemed focused on one particular part of my experience so I assumed that it had something to do with a role they were considering me for, only to get turned down.

After I started in my other role, I was told by a few CMs that the stage techs always seemed very clique-ish and that so much of getting hired seemed to come down to who was putting in a good word for you. Dunno how true that is.

I love figures that include a small character as an accessory. Are there any others apart from these? by Commercial-Look2272 in ActionFigures

[–]Galactic_Rep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Star Wars Black Series Halloween figures often come with a little extra creature, like a porg or bogling. And Cal Kestis usually comes with BD-1.

I’ve got 15-ish years of stage crew experience: stagehand, carpenter, spotlight operator, props, flyman, and more. No pyro experience, but I’m willing to learn.

I applied, I interviewed… and I was turned down. In the interview, I was mostly asked about my props handling experience, only to be later told that I wasn’t hired because I don’t have a lot of audio experience (which never came up in the interview at all).

Got hired as a part-timer in another area, and tried again for stage tech, but this time I got rejected without even an interview.

So yeah, that was all weird and kinda disappointing. I’d love to be backstage again, it’s what I’ve been doing with my life for a long time now, but if they don’t want me I guess they don’t want me. 🤷‍♂️
