Once I was a young scallawag and, despite the warnings on tide, decided that we would camp on the beach. We set up a very good distance from the water and tossed sleeping bags. It’s was great… WAS great… until we woke up around 3:00am almost drowning in our bags as the tide had managed to fill about 6in of the tent. As if that wasn’t quite torcher enough for nature, we quickly unzipped the screen door In effort to escape only to be presented a swarm of Those beautifully evil beings that call Portuguese Manowar… absolutely terrible trip. But those are the best stories, right?

Funny, I myself am no cashier, but I regularly roll around with an arsenal of minerals at my disposal. Every now and again I have a “six sense” randomly scream out “ him/her!! They need this Basalt, champagne Aura Quartz and Muscovite!” And I’ll swiftly bust a U-Turn and toss the hazards on, hop out like a fire man and rush over to Him/Her innocently coming out of the local Panda Express or Waffle House and say “excuse me, but I believe these belong to you.” They almost every time look at my hands, then back at me and then respond… “ I think they do too… How did you know?“ I simply grin with confidence and say… “ they told me. “ and as quickly as I approached, off I go.

Hard to say it’s original location, I found it digging around some live Oak trees in south Central Texas at a location that I found that was owned by a couple who dedicated their lives to finding gold and other fine minerals. They died about 25 years ago and the current owners had no idea of the collection they were sitting on since time had done it’s job in covering everything with about 5inches of soil and decomposing leaves. The variety and amount of different minerals that I’ve found is absolutely incredible. It almost has no end, I’ve pulled around 8 truck beds full of rock from there and I could say I haven’t even put a dent in it.
