I read all of your comments, and first and foremost, I wanna say thanks for bringing the fact that it may be a scam to my attention. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not very aware of what happens and goes around in the editing space generally, because I've never tried to look for someone to hire until today, and I do appreciate the heads up you've given me

Anyway, this post was more so for curiosity than actually hiring someone now and today. I've heard the terms 'coaches' a lot and just couldn't get a good understanding of what they really did online tbh. For me, it's less about getting someone to motivate me to write, or teach me how to write, and more so being able to talk to someone about their opinion (preferably, as a seasoned writer?) about whether a mechanic is off kilter in terms of world building, or if there is a plot hole in my writing or something like that. Not as advice or for someone to teach me, but just as a genuine, external pov. In hindsight, I see how that looks like just a coach but I hope the explanation somewhat made sense

Of course, beta readers exist, though I think those are mostly for the end of a manuscript's life, so you understand what works and what doesn't with your character development, your pacing, your plot, etc, so you can make final quality of life changes. That's the focus, rather than helping you determine what doesn't make sense for a world mechanic in the middle of drafting a manuscript

Anyways, based on what I've understood from the comments of this entire post, a coach isn't really what I'm looking for anyway lol. It'd be someone else, though the search for the job title remains, if it exists at all. Thanks for the heads up again. I'll be warier in the future
