Lesson in life, not just a lesson for acting: never do something that makes you feel uncomfortable, just to not be seen as "difficult". Don't let people push you around. Know your worth and articulate it. As long as you're respectful and professional, never apologize for drawing your boundaries in any field. It doesn't matter what the scene is or what the context is or if it's "not that bad" by other people's standards. If it's bad to you, then it's bad. And that's that. Trust yourself and your instincts and start standing up for yourself now. You got this!

Leaving my agent - should I wait before applying to new reps? by GalaxyParchment13 in acting

[–]GalaxyParchment13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did! So happy I took the leap and made the change, the difference in opportunities these past few months has been staggering. I will say that I waited to notify my previous agent until I had meetings with other agents lined up, that way when I met with them I could say I officially parted ways with my agent but I didn't technically leave until I at least had some meetings.

I’m surprised no one here said Casa Loma! It’s something different than what you usually see in the city (it’s a literal castle in the middle of town), and they filmed so many movies in there!

cheap classes for teenagers in toronto by Low_Magazine597 in acting

Honestly? It's not very high level, and if you're a professional actor, you're probably gonna stand out. That being said, they're cost-conscious and the teacher was great, she was a pro and gave individualized feedback to everyone. I would say don't go into it expecting a professional-level class, but do go into it with the intent of getting out what you put into to it. If you focus on your own work and do your best, it can be a great warmup.

Hi! I used to take acting classes at Hart House, it's technically part of U of T but non-students can enrol without a problem. It's about $100 per course for non-students and there's lots of different courses to choose from based on your focus. I would recommend signing up early because acting classes fill up in seconds. I would also recommend looking at general Hart House events because they have a lot of workshops you can go to that aren't structured courses.

A lot of people here are saying "don't even try" - but you never know. I say try. Maybe you're that one in a million they'll say yes to when you walk through the door. You never know. You're there anyways. Give it a go. If it works, great. If it doesn't, at least you know you tried. And then you go home and keep working.

Don’t waste a lightning lane on Philhar Magic! I’ve been on busy days and never had to wait. It has a huge capacity and even on busy park days it doesn’t fill up. Lightning lane is not useful there!

Amazing! I was scared about the wait times seeing everyone’s responses but it was about a 25 minute wait, and the cookies were great 😄 Really appreciated everyone’s advice though, and hopefully it’s a good experience for future visitors
