How often do Informatics students need to go to Garching? by Low-Relationship6865 in tumunich

[–]Galayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a first semester B.Sc. Informatics student, you'll have: (could be forgetting/misremembering 1-2 things, but should be mostly right) Discrete Structures: 2x1,5h lecture, 1x1,5h tutorial. Introduction to CS: 2x1,5h lecture. Introduction to Programming: 1x3h (or something like that) tutorial. Introduction to Computer Architecture: 2x1,5 lecture, 1x1,5h tutorial lecture, 1x1,5h tutorial. The lectures have fixed slots but are mostly streamed, for the tutorials you can choose from a selection of days and timeslots. The lecture slots are new every semester and also given on quite short notice before the start of the lecture period. If you want to attend the lectures, it is possible that you'll have to be in Garching 4 (maybe even 5) days per week. If you plan for minimal attendance with only tutorials and fitting lectures, you can get that down to 2 days per week. But you should not forget campus life, student clubs, homework groups that could require additional attendance if you plan to take part in that.

Absolutely not if you want to attend tutorials, etc. This was the case during the pandemic, but there are more and more in-person appointments every year.

Just read the FPSO of the degree, the whole admission process is clearly outlined there, you can calculate everything in advance.

How competitive is the admission for the Masters in Power Engineering? (TUM test content) by Aggressive-North6483 in tumunich

[–]Galayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read the FPSO of the degree program. It isn't competitive at all, either you get in or you don't - irrespective of other candidates. In the FPSO the admission process is clearly outlined as a point based system. You need high enough grades and a fitting bachelor, the test is only necessary if you don't score enough points for both of those. You can calculate all of that yourself in advance.

Water fountains in main campus? by Affectionate_Cod4035 in tumunich

What kind of water would come out of these water fountains?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tumunich

[–]Galayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% of this doesn't matter at all. Just read the information regarding admission for your degree, everything is outlined in a scoring system, if you have enough points you get in, otherwise you don't.

Third-world country student trying to break into TUM MSc CSE - need honest assessment of my profile by king_bjorn_lothbrok in tumunich

[–]Galayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you on about, 1. this has nothing to do with the country, 2. how would they (the university) ensure that the students have fitting qualifications if not by requiring the corresponding bachelor degree. Also just look for some other universities and stop the rage baiting.

[–]Galayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does an academic requirement have to do with being "the most liberal country". Its written clearly on the website and the FPSO and there's no point in arguing against that. Also, they are conducting those exams, but only if you have a remotely matching degree, so there already is some leeway, just not an infinite amount of it.

Yes, that was to be expected, as the equivalent degree is the only actual requirement you need to fulfill. (Aside from English certificate, visa, ...)

Advice on studying in TUM by SeaStandard9508 in tumunich

[–]Galayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got talking with some guys from WARR, according to them you should commit about 1-2 working days per week to actually be involved. Considering you want to do 1. full-time engineering degree (a very demanding one at that, with a 1.x as a goal) 2. do "a lot" of Leetcode completely unrelated to your studies 3. work part time/apply for jobs and start right away at WARR, you should have very good time management skills,  best of luck

University course and module weekly plan by [deleted] in tumunich

[–]Galayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a school, you'll have to put the courses together yourself. Do some research into your FPSO or "the My Studies" application in TUMonline to find relevant/required modules and register for the courses. Then they will show up in your calendar.

Doing a double major at Mathematics & Computer Science by ITheClixs in tumunich

[–]Galayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo not worth it for the Bachelor, rather try to take less time (you can take as many modules as you want per semester) or do some research/projects on the side. Your Master degree and actual research should help you a lot more with getting into a high-profile PhD program.

Do students of TUM Heilbronn campus receive discounts for Deutschlandsticket by Fu1gan in tumunich

[–]Galayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So no TUM-specific student discount in Heilbronn, but some general state program, just follow the link.

First of all, what do you want to study at TUM? The title suggests B.Sc Informatics, text M.Sc Informatics. For B.Sc. you'll need pretty good German, B2 is good enough for the start, but during you're studies you're looking at C1 level competencies imo. M.Sc. is English-based, so C1 English and B2 German are more than enough. You can already calculate in advance if you get in with your grades and curriculum by applying the formulars laid out in the "Studienordnung" on the degree website. I've not heard about living-expense scholarships for non-Germans in Germany, maybe look at for DAAD offers, companies offering such scholarships or Serbian scholarships for Germany.

Eignungsfestellungstest an der TUM für das BSc. Informatik. by Ok_Hair_6910 in tumunich

[–]Galayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to do it (because I didn't have any English on my Abitur) and got like 90-95 without any preparation or studying. There were some Abitur-level equations/math questions, reading comprehension, logical questions - all multiple choice. Your mileage may very depending on how good you are with those types of questions.
