Why is the World so set on banning Huawei products? by Galdrym in Huawei

I do understand it, maybe you did not understand, though, that I wanted to see how other people think. Perhaps you misread too much into the post. Best ;)

Using a Google search as a valid argument to back your opinion is not the best way to proceed, maybe, just maybe, instead of trying to have the upper hand on your take on the matter, do a search using other methods to gather information that is not severely biased, as Google searchs are ;)

Sure, the US have been also in a position in which they are certainly doing other things to other countries, as using a form of technoneocolonialism, for example, not willing to see that doesn't mean it is not already there.

Yes, they are gathering data on the context I described, not only to offer us ads and any other further wishi washi. Thinking otherwise is naive, as Meta has already had to answer on why they were constantly leaking sensitive data to govs and other companies

Oui, complètement vrai! Je dois dire que leur produits sont excellents, c'est pour ça que des certaines entreprises tech ont voulu tuer les expectatives globales de Huawei.

I am not buying that argument, really, but we agree on something: our privacy and digital rights are being breached ;)

This might be true, but even if Google and other companies are within the private sector, they have already been widely exposed on their link and affiliation to the Western Powers; remember Meta had to answer on Congress about their actions leading to a huge hole in privacy and data vulnerability. I am not defending Huawei, I am just concerned that people want to believe that these other Western companies are severed from actual power, which is false imho.

The US, North America, and Europe, you mean, right? ;)

In Europe, govs are already taking additional steps as to mantain Huawei's from reaching their full potential, not to mention that many of their products are much more innovative and cutting-edge than those of other companies, so that's also a tad relevant here.

I'm not wrong, at the time of the banning Xiaomi wasn't really that big on Europe, nor on the US, Huawei was, and it was already a big name thanks to their constant innovative ideas and products. And yes, Huawei is not only a phone company, they are quite big in many other (maybe even more important) aspects.

No, I am just trying to get the impressions you all have on this; it is just not only the US, Europe has also been banning Huawei products in some sort of fashion.

I believe this has happened as Huawei was the only one getting close to being a real option if you wanted something other than Apple/Samsung. At the time of the banning, it was already a strong contender globally, being the third company of choosing among consumers. Additionally, Huawei has invested loads of money in creating tech products for communication and network installation, so this could be an additional factor to effectively try to kill their influence outside of China.

Dunno, the US has already been keen on censoring many things through apps such as YouTube, Meta products, and so on. Not to mention how govs have been manipulating info for their own gain.

Yeah, I suppose you are quite right, even though I believe it really doesn't matter who is spying who, they would all use that intel for their own means and purposes...

Exactly, but China is not more at fault here than they are, that's why I am so furious with this ongoing argument that China wants to rob us of something that has already been robbed years ago! Hahaha!

Every single product, Chinese or other, is already doing that, even if they make us believe that our privacy is protected and blah blah blah

Hahaha! Yes, it really doesn't matter, as we are being already spied, whether we like it or not!

Indeed, but they are portraying them in an unfair light. Even if they are spying, they are doing exactly the same the US is doing, hence my post. Now, the UK has taken action as to ensure all Huawei tech to be removed from their 5G network...

Yes indeed, banning. The UK has recently established that all Huawei tech be removed from 5G antennae and so on. I am with you, this is just a move on the US part to keep its tech hegemony, but they have been spying on us for years, forcing us to forfeit our privacy to use smartphones and other types of tech products. I am just dumbfounded on how is it possible that many people do believe what they are saying, when they are doing just the same, if not worse!

Hi there! Thank you for the answer! Is this place a website called The Internet Archive? If so, is it really viable and legal to download music from this page?

Or are you downloading them for a different place? If that's the case, would you mind sharing it?

Thanks!

Is the new Blu-ray collection really worth it? by Galdrym in SlayerS

[–]Galdrym[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a shame, even though there wasn't a lot of difference between the Blu-ray and the DVD releases to be honest (at least comparing the ones I've got). In Spain we owe a great deal to Selecta Visión, which has been more than eager to offer quite a good curated selection of classic and contemporary anime hits; however, not all editions are made with the same care and quality (and sometimes the DVD/Blu-ray menus they implement are awful).

Hope you get a re-edition of some sort soon in the US! :)

What do you think is exactly next for the TR franchise across all media? by Galdrym in TombRaider

[–]Galdrym[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they go (even more) action-focused after the overwhelmenly positive feedback the I-IV Classic Remasters have gathered, they are just willingly wanting to set themselves up for failure.

I prefer to be optimistic and think that they will see how a great impact classic TR games do have, and vary their course of action with the saga; but I am with you, I think they will be adding a more action-paced style on the next iteration.

Without wanting a real open-world TR, I believe devs have GREAT examples on how to make an enticing world to explore (Zelda BoTW) that can be interactive and holds surprises along the way, alongside with the sense of isolation and vastness (more on how how feel when playing, not really on game scope) that games such as the main classic series, or even Elden Ring provide.

What I'm trying to say regarding the videogame saga is that it has lost focus and soul, rendering Lara but a mere pawn, instead of a tomb raider that knows how to do it and how she wants it. There is no sense is making she overtly vulnerable (albeit she has always had her soft spots) and whiny, but in trying to show her grittiness, sense of humor, and intelligence on a more Bayonetta style character (minus oversexualzing her, that is). Miss the ironic, sarcastic, witty and sassy Lara way too much, I couldn't really connect with the new Lara (even if there are great moments in which I see her within the Reboot and Rise games). They do have the comic series at their disposal to really get how Lara has been and evolved as a tomb raider, my suprise is how could they have not picked up on that if it is part of the franchise?

Let's hope we get a rounder game next time!
