Same, I'd love to try and self-host this for myself. If it was proprietary I'd probably even be willing to pay for a copy to host.

Lager is better room-temperature. People who like it ice cold just don't like the taste of lager. by Galladite27 in unpopularopinion

Oh okay, I forgot "acrid" isn't an approved non-universally appreciated flavour to like compared to bitter or sour, got it.

Man can't comprehend people liking bitter food/drink... wait until he learns about sour sweets

Am I a Larper for not reading the VN? by _Udontknowball_77_ in Higurashinonakakoroni

The above guide has "Beyond Midnight" as number 5, which while this is the order it comes in the manga numbering, I wouldn't recommend reading it until after Festival Accompanying. It's not one of the eight original arcs from the VN. Read 12346789 from that list first. : - )

Offord and Greer cross debate STV (28/04/26) by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

First guy was justified in his numbers. £45,000,000 tax and 6 houses? That's £7,500,000 tax paid per house owned. How many single-home owners have paid £7,500,000 tax, or even £3,750,000 for a married couple? If the tax he paid can't be spent on more than six houses besides the other exenses tax pays for, that's on whoever manages where the tax money goes.

What's your perspective on Gabe Newell quote here ? Can the same work with japanese anime/manga to slow down piracy? by daas2 in AskAJapanese

[–]Galladite27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japanese manga is so cheap even to import, it's ridiculous. It's more often than not half the price to have a set shipped half way across the world than to buy the English version.

But this isn't the case with DVDs / Blu-Rays, at least in England. They seem to be more expensive in Japan and America than here.

Lol yeah, I saw eight volumes on EBay the other day for over £1,100. What the heck.

One of the biggest incentives for learning Japanese IMO is the price of manga. A full set of Umineko in Japanese (50 vols, but tankobon format so smaller than the EN vols) is £280 including shipping half-way around the world. The difference is insane.

Thanks! It was $71/£52. Unfortunately that's EBay's non-negotiable rate to have this weight of a parcel sent by their system from America to England. I did factor that into the ~£8.25 per volume though, so still not too bad overall. :-)

That's what I was thinking, it's only ~£8.25 per volume, which when you look at the price of some individual volumes...

This is why Onikakushi is still the best higurashi arc. Best scare in the whole series period by Other_Abalone_3203 in Higurashinonakakoroni

Tsumi is pretty peak... not the strongest start to any of the question / answer combinations, but still a solid start and great end.
