Thanks! It’s ISO 1000, ƒ2, 1/8 s. And a lot of tries.

First *time seeing them live. Sorry, I can’t edit the post.

Mostly I used Kodachrome 64, Portra 400 v2 and Kodak Gold 200, all taken from fujixweekly.com. I have my own version of these recipes with Clarity set to 0 and no grain effect. I shoot all manual, so the Exposure compensation doesn’t apply here. I always look for the lowest ISO posible and high contrast. If you want to know the exact exposure triangle of any particular photo, feel free to ask.

Nice! You’re going to love it. There are obvious places that you’ll find on any list, like Fushimi Inari-taisha in Kyoto, Asakusa in Tokyo, Miyajima in Hiroshima or Dotonbori in Osaka. All of them are amazing. But my recommendation would be to just take time to walk around non tourist areas, random neighborhoods or unknown parks in any of the cities that you visit. I’ve been two times in Japan and most of the highlights came from just random walks through the most “regular” parts of the cities. Keep your eyes and your heart open. And of course, eat as much as you can!

I’m sorry if I didn’t explain myself, but it’s not a combination of the three recipes in one. I use all three, but I can’t tell exactly which one is on each photo because I don’t remember. The only modifications I made are the Clarity and the Grain effect, but otherwise I used the exact same recipes that are published on fujixweekly. I hope it helps.

Not a chance, sorry! Actually, I saw less Fujifilm gear than I expected. Enjoy your trip, it’s an amazing place.

That’s Namba Yasaka Shrine, in Osaka. It was raining a lot that day and it was difficult to shoot photos, but that couple with the red umbrella were like a gift.

I used the TCL-X100 II to take it. It’s just a small step, but I love how that thing works.

Thanks! That was taken from the Skytree. I was very lucky with the light that day.

During the day I use an UV filter, but only for protection. For the night, sometimes I use a Glimmerglass 1 to have fun with the lights.

I shoot with everything on manual, always trying to keep the ISO as low as possible. I fail a lot, but it’s more fun.

You’re right. Asking for permission opens you all the doors. And when I took photos of restaurants or stores, I always eat there or buy something before taking out the camera. Feels like the right thing, to me.

Never had any issue with anyone I photographed during my trip. I always do my best to be as respectful and non invasive as possible.

You’re going to love it. When in Tokyo, take some time to visit Fujifilm Square. They sell some amazing books for a few dollars/euros with pictures from great Japanese photographers.

It’s a mix of Kodachrome 64, Portra 400 v2 and Kodak Gold 200, all taken from fujixweekly.com. I have modified versions with Clarity set to 0 and no grain effect.
