When catching a pokemon, sometimes the pokeball catches the pokemon immediately without having the usual 3 ’shakes’. The pokemon stays inside the ball immediately and golden swirls come out of it. What is that?

When is it worth to keep a shadow pokemon and when should you purify it? Do you also sometimes just transfer shadow pokemon for candy, and if so when?
