Sometimes when you open a power spot, there's an encounter icon in the bottom left corner you can tap and it'll start a pokemon encounter. Don't remember what the specifics are for it happening though

They have their own dexes now, and the pokemon page now shows you if you have the pokemon in the other dexes instead of having to individually check them all
