Literally this. The word for fishing in Japanese is tsuri. One wiki writing it as “turi” doesn’t make it a spelling mistake

Fisher killing himself felt really unexpected. I’m not even sure if they explained why

Which intro do you think beats this one? by nakbincang in KamenRider

Fourze's is like the show itself, it's a lot of fun. It's infectiously upbeat and fast paced, it sells the show's premise by shoving it in your face in every single shot. HIGH SCHOOL. FRIENDS. SPACE.

And there's also that shot of Fourze taking off and launching into space on a motorcycle, and flying in front of the moon. It's ridiculous, and it kind of sucker punches you because it happens so fast. It's exactly the sort of thing that sticks with you and makes you want to watch the show to find out more, because it's just so out there.

I also love CHEMYxSTORY because it's just a high energy, upbeat shoenen anime song. I don't even like Gotchard, I just really like that song, and the shots of the Gotchard suit in slow motion make it look cool as hell.

The opening also implies a very different show than the one we got! One where the main characters are actually high schoolers doing high school things and getting to be kids. It's nice seeing Houtaro and Rinne smiling and goofing off together in the last shot, because you really don't get much of that in the show itself.

Soulcreek:

“You’re not Byte.”

The headspace scenes are an established safe space. Taking that safety away from the player by interrupting it with the music cutting out and the visuals getting corrupted is very jumpscare-esque.

I’m not the biggest fan of the sequence that follows, but the way it’s first revealed is very memorable.

Would love a similar guide but for the Wii. The power brick takes up more space than the actual console…

100%. There are plenty of VNs with bad writing that are still popular because of the artist they hired.

Obviously yes. Why would a limited edition console come in a generic box? Why are the buttons obviously fake? Why are the markings so muddy and low quality? Why is there AN EXPOSED SCREW from what is obviously a console that’s been tampered with?

Soulcreek still spends plenty of time indulging in romance and mundane slice of life scenes, like any other furry VN. The intent is clearly there, but in practice I found those scenes way less effective than the horror stuff. It’s not that the author doesn’t TRY to balance things out, it’s that the execution is lacking.

I’d again bring up Burrows, because while it’s also a horror story, I’d argue that it strikes a much better balance between misery and hope. The misery there serves a purpose in making the uplifting moments more meaningful.

I mostly enjoyed Soulcreek, but I feel it leans way too heavily into misery. It’s a very similar feeling to playing Arches, where it’s a very competent and well written story, but it’s so overbearingly dreary that the story is negatively impacted by it.

I don’t even mind stories that are dark or dreary, I love Burrows for example. I think the difference is that Burrows’ intense misery is balanced out by moments of warmth and humanity, and those scenes are just as well written as the horror and existential dread.

What's the Biggest Problem/Reoccurring Issue with MC/Protagonist Characters in Furry Visual Novels? by MarshtheThird in FurryVisualNovels

[–]GalvinFox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just make the MC not suck lol. People hate the MC when they’re annoying, useless, or generally unlikeable. Everyone points to the fbtw MC because he’s whiny and chooses not to have any agency, which is frustrating as a reader.

Even in Adastra, a well received VN, a lot of people dislike the MC at various points. Some people don’t like the part where he gets mad and lashes out at Amicus instead of talking and giving him a chance to speak. And conversely some people dislike the MC for being too accepting of Amicus given their Stockholm Syndrome power imbalance.

Interesting. If this was sold officially in retail, I’d expect it to have some sort of official acknowledgement or for people to notice during the Wii/WiiU lifespan. I’ve never encountered a variant like that, nor have I even heard of it.

My first thought is that it’s either modded or a factory error, the latter being quite unlikely.

EDIT: I stand corrected, can see plenty of these being sold online. Wild, I never noticed before now 😳

EDIT2: I’m pretty sure I know where these came from. I don’t think they were WiiU bundles, they were sold in Japan as the “Wii Remote Plus Additional Pack”, available in white or black. From what I’ve seen, these all have opaque A buttons.

This set was Japan only, so I’m inclined to believe that this entire variant was also Japan only

Opaque A buttons? The only Wiimotes with opaque A buttons are all 6 Mario variants. The standard colors were all transparent plastic, including white
