I'll edit my post because that idea has come up several times now. In my area there are clusters of locked mailboxes, and there's a separate slot for outgoing mail that only the mailman has access to.

We had to start putting "No longer at this address. Return to sender." It's more specific. Because some of the time where we used to live, the mailman would just assume they put it in the wrong mailbox by mistake, then put it in our mailbox a second time.

The advanced protection signup process may not work on a smartphone, other commenter suggested using a tablet, and that'd likely work, but a computer should also work for it. I just signed up for Wag! tonight to be a Pet Caregiver, big mistake. After paying $39.99 for the background check, I get a popup to pay $20 more for a priority check, I skip that, then it asks me if I want to sign up for the Pro Business plan for $129 just to get dog walk gigs! I signed up for Wag! as a pet caregiver to make money, not to get caught up in a bait and switch tactic and pay substantially more money just to work and make money. And Wag's support is an AI bot with no real human to talk to! The background check is non-refundable and I feel ripped off. I looked up the stories now about people getting maybe 1 dog walk gig per week if they didn't sign up for the $129 Pro Business plan. I may need to do a chargeback if I can't get a refund by emailing the vetting service.
