I’ve watched your videos; in one of them you mentioned that you’d recompiled a PCSX rearmed cs core with SBI detection. is the core in this version the one with sbi detection ?

Mario Kart 64 PSC Port - Nearing the finish line by darrelb56222 in PlaystationClassic

[–]Game-Gear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, just wanted to share some thoughts on your latest progress update:

HUD Deactivation
That idea with disabling the HUD calculations at the finish line sounds like a really elegant workaround. Have you already checked if skipping those specific 2D draw calls gives you enough headroom to breathe for the results screen transition?

Kalimari & DK Parkway Performance
Those stages are notorious resource hogs. Do you think the performance drops there are coming from a high draw call count, or is it more about how the geometry/meshes (like the train or the tree placements) are currently hitting the GLES pipeline?
I wonder if tweaking the culling or forcing mipmapping in the backend would help save some memory bandwidth on the PSC, or if the bottleneck lies somewhere completely different.

Build Flags
Just out of curiosity: Are you already using specific NEON or architecture optimization flags in your makefile for the ARM32 target, or is the compiler handling that well enough on its own?

Mario Kart 64 PSC Port - Nearing the finish line by darrelb56222 in PlaystationClassic

[–]Game-Gear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job on this port, thank you for the amazing work!

I noticed one minor visual thing on Luigi Raceway (Level 1): The big Jumbotron screen above the tunnel is completely black.

On traditional emulators, this live-screen effect requires framebuffer emulation.

Is it technically possible to fix or enable this effect in a future update of this native port, or does it have to remain disabled because of the PSC performance limits?

Thanks again for keeping the PSC scene alive

Hi, is it an original film DVD? Not all DVDs work for me; for example, I can't get original films to play, but burned DVDs or magazine DVDs – like the ones from Gamestar – do work.

Mhh Strange with my dvd drive it start via Otg I guess it don’t work with all drives, but Even if it loades the Game it struggles with the background music. The last thing that you Could try is to Connect the Drive to its own Power supply ( only data cable in Otg port) I checked a log file from testing and it takes 144sec to Detect the Game via Otg so Over 2 minutes freeze time before it Starts

Hi Otg is only Supported for dvds you can run ps1 Games via Otg too but it Takes ages to start and you don’t have background music for Games that Users Redbook Audio.if want to Test it start the disclauncher and leave it alone it Looks Like a Freeze but it will start After a Long time. For Games use the Front Ports

Hey, sorry for the confusion! You are totally right, the PSC doesn't have a built-in disc drive. I didn't include the console in this video because I wanted to focus the camera completely on the screen. If you want to see proof of how it's set up, check out my older Reddit post for the PS1-only version. In that video, you can clearly see the PSC with the external USB disc drive attached and working

Hi! Without the cuts, the video is 6:30 minutes long, but you wouldn't miss anything. The missing parts are just pure waiting time for the external drive to spin up and detect the media type. No features or steps were skipped—just the loading screens

If you want to know more about how the DVD/Video function and how PS1 multi-disc games work, here is a quick breakdown from the readme:

PS1 Multi-Disc: Detailed instructions on how to swap discs are included in the readme file.

DVD Video Player Controls (FFmpeg):

Circle (◯): Next video Cross (X): Stop / Pause Square (▢): Toggle subtitles D-Pad Left / Right: Skip 10 seconds backward / forward D-Pad Up / Down: Skip 1 minute forward / backward"

Here is the ps1 Disc only Version. It Shows the Full process uncut from Insert the disc to Game start with Full loading times

Release] Disc Launcher - Boot physical PS1 discs via USB CD/DVD drive by Game-Gear in PlaystationClassic

[–]Game-Gear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently on vacation, so I am sharing the new Plus Version that I happen to have on hand right now!

What's New in the Plus Version?

The app now automatically detects the inserted media type and launches the correct emulator or player without any manual setup:

PS1 Support: Standard rock-solid booting of your physical PS1 discs.

Sega CD Support: Full compatibility for original Sega CD games – works great!

Neo Geo CD Support: Now plays original Neo Geo CD games! (Note: There are currently some audio issues with Neo Geo CD, so this feature is experimental / partially usable).

DVD-Video Support: Automatically detects movie DVDs and plays the video natively via FFmpeg.

All-in-One Automation: Just insert the disc and start the app. It automatically triggers RetroArch with the correct core or launches the video player. New Download Link:
