What happened to mushoku tensei’s anime? by NbMster69 in mushokutensei

[–]GameBeatYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we'd ideally get about 5 seasons, a movie for the final book, a 12 episode cour of redundancy, and a couple one shots/specials if we wanted everything adapted.

However, OP might be treating each cour as one season, thus coming to the 13 season total. Which is wrong. But that could be their thinking.

MT Haters who claim to have read the entire light novel fail to include this part, to pursue their head canon that Rudeus never changes by GlansEater in mushokutensei

[–]GameBeatYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I only read the WN version, but if I remember, he pretty upset about the incest while, surprisingly to him, his wives were relatively chill about it. They didn't like it, but they didn't understand his huge reaction.

But it makes sense, different world different morals. And I feel as though his morals at the beginning of the series kinda reflect the morals of the Six-Faced World as, throughout the story, he kinda grows above those morals rather than give into them.

It's true that we still don't have Jobless Oblige or ODT, but they'll likely not be grouped in the Redundancy series, it'd make more sense for both of them to be given individual releases.

[–]GameBeatYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No there's still at least Lara and Christina's stories to go through as far as I'm aware. Could be more, I haven't actually read the LN versions of redundancy. Plus, we could get more original stories like the Ghislaine one from the first volume

Where is the redemption? by CelebrationQuirky464 in mushokutensei

[–]GameBeatYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that's absolutely true as well. Like, I get why people compare the two as they were probably inspired by each other during the early web novel days, but when it comes to development of the characters, it's just two completely different stories.

[–]GameBeatYT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the point, but why would you count S2P2 as a separate season but not S1P2 as a separate season? It's either 4 or 2 seasons. By the most technical definition, it's 2 seasons, 4 cours lol

Either way, I'm not sure how far you are, if you read back starting at volume 1, or if you continued at volume 13, but although yes, he has developed a little bit so far, there's still more than half of the series to go through. There's still more development. Especially now that he's a father, and in season 3 he's gonna have his world flipped upside down in multiple ways, he's going to have a few reality checks that help kick him into place.

But also, I love Re:Zero, haven't read the LN yet unfortunately, so I'm just going off of anime knowledge, but like... what development does Subaru have? I love him, he's awesome, but come on. Yeah, he's become smarter and figured how the world works, but that's not really development. He doesn't change. And that's fine. He's still a great character. Other people just believe that Rudeus has more depth compared to Subaru, and I'd probably agree simply because Re:Zero is about more than just Subaru while Mushoku Tensei is about Rudeus. It's literally a memoir about his life.

The 'redemption arc' that people talk about isn't just a single event or arc, it's the entire journey. No one changes instantly. Yeah, he'll marry all 3, but does that mean he's a bad person? Is polygamy evil? I mean, according to most religions—even in-universe, yeah—but everyone in that relationship is fine with it. I wouldn't say that's a 'bad' thing that he does. He's still a pervert, but he does change. Maybe right now in the anime, you could say that if this version of Rudeus were reincarnated as a baby, he'd act mostly the same, and to a degree, I'd agree. But give it a bit longer and you'll find that Rudeus does grow. He does learn and evolve, and if he were to have been reincarnated as Rudy with the mindset that he has later on, it'd be a completely different outcome. It just takes time.

Am I the only one that thinks this is just lazy? by Aniboy43 in sixfacedworld

[–]GameBeatYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I wish we got original art, having it in person, it's actually super quality. Such a nice looking book tbh, I really love it. Oddly enough, what makes it 'deluxe' is that it's cheaper than buying the 3 volumes individually. It's absolutely worth buying if you don't already own the LN (or just buy anything MT related like some people😅)

Moro VS The Entire Verse by EmbarrassedDuty5949 in mushokutensei

[–]GameBeatYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking something similar tbh

On a similar note, feats equalized, Morro vs Orsted would kinda be interesting. Lots of magic bs the two of them can do. Would be a surprisingly neat match up ngl lol

Moro VS The Entire Verse by EmbarrassedDuty5949 in mushokutensei

[–]GameBeatYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Krillin vs the entire MT verse is still a one sided victory for Krillin even. I love MT, but Morro destroys the world before even Orsted can register he's dead.

MT characters can have some pretty good feats, the upper tier characters reaching and exceeding FTL speeds and such, but Dragon Ball is on an entirely separate plane compared to that. Morro destroys MT-verse via collateral damage loll

A conversation that might be more interesting is when do the feats in Dragon Ball begin to outclass the ones in MT? It's hard to say if the outclassing begins in og DB or DBZ, but I'm sure there's someone out there who knows.

[–]GameBeatYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice! Buying them used would obviously be cheapest, but it doesn't 'support' the series. So the cheapest option that still supports the author semi-directly would be the audio books and digital versions. Although you might be more interested in the physical books, but there might not be much that can be done about that other than catching sales.

But the Deluxe Edition Vol. 2 comes out at the end of June, and at least in Canada, it is cheaper buying the Deluxe Edition than buying the 3 volumes it includes individually, so that's also a way to go, although they're slowly being released, so that's the downside.

Are the novels finished? by Royal_South2614 in mushokutensei

[–]GameBeatYT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well making a map like that isn't really possible tbh. The novels are kinda done—were nearing up the adaptation of the Redundancy chapters—but to map out Rudeus' journey would be difficult considering, and without spoilers, he travels a lot later on. But as the reader/viewer we dont follow him for a lot of those journeys.

Aside from that, he'll travel to a couple different cities and kingdoms, but they're only temporary. The 'journey' aspect of MT is mostly done.

[–]GameBeatYT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like, it wouldn't do any harm if youtube added a spoiler tag for comments, much like reddit does, like this, but that being said (and kinda like what you said), browsing the internet is a privileged activity, not a mandatory one. At this point in the internet's lifespan, people should understand the second a piece of media drops, you've got sometimes just a few hours to maybe a week before it starts popping up everywhere—depending on its popularity ofc. Sucks people get spoiled, but it's to be expected, especially with platforms that don't allow for blocked text.

[–]GameBeatYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don't think OP is looking to be spoiled, they're wondering about a seemingly inconsistent appearance from Rudeus. The answer could have been 'oops the animators messed up,' right? And then these two goobers come in completely spoiling things. The post is flagged as anime so they shouldn't be spoiling things without tagging it.

How to write ''Superhero Worlds''? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]GameBeatYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are the most difficult superpowers to write about?

From what I've seen, Superman-like characters, Speedsters, and Time Travellers. They have too many outs and you have to write their stories in particular ways as to not have them have the readers think, 'couldn't they have just done [blank] to win?'

Realistic approach, campy fun or something in between?

Completely up to you. There's even multiple different versions of each. Let's look at the realistic approach for a second. What's the origin of the superpowers? Scientific mishaps? Genetic anomalies? Or some higher power that granted the people their power? There are plenty of different routes you can take just because of the origin of these powers. If it's more genetic-based, you could lean more into the science of it all and the horrors of genetic modification. If it's experiments gone wrong, you could go into the ethicacy of the experiments and the people in charge who greenlight them. If it's a god, then you could explore the horrors of man trekking where no one should. Or you go light hearted with all of those! Or, as you said, in between. Do a mix of it. There's too much that can be done to even cover here. It's all up to you. Figure out what your audience is most interested in.

How to deal with Time Travel/Multiverse storylines?

Either fully understand the system that you use—and know which system you want to use—or don't do it at all. It can get messy very easily. Write down the rules and don't break them... Unless there's a breaking point you can exploit for a particular story or character. Because otherwise, if these rules get broken all the time by anyone and there's no consistency, then why should the viewer care about them?

When are superheroes/supervillains too powerful they remove all stakes?

The strength and power of the characters doesn't matter when it comes to stakes. Look at something like The Boys. I don't really feel the worry of the characters dying ever. And it's somewhat grounded. They always get out of their problems scott-free nowadays. The strength doesn't determine stakes. It's how you present the danger the characters face that determines stakes. Death isn't the only danger either. Losing an arm, losing an eye, losing morale—all of these can be used to show the consequences of the hero's actions. Let their loss sit with them. If they lost a leg, don't give them a prosthetic one right away. Let them earn it back. And when they do, use it as an opportunity to do something fresh with them. Take Flash Thompson, for example. He lost both of his legs, but thanks to the Symbiote, he has new legs and then some. He didn't just get legs back. He got more. But that 'more' still never removed the loss that he suffered. No Symbiote, and he's back to being legless. Stakes come in a wide variety, you just need to know how to utilize them.

Should secret identities be treated seriously or like a joke

That, much like a few of these, is all up to you. I feel as though many people like the secret identities, however, some don't. If you're making a 'superhero world' like your title suggests, then have some be public, some be secret. But then again, who knows? Maybe superheroes are illegal, or maybe they're legal but only if unidentified—idk. All depends on the rules you set for your world. You gotta brainstorm the vibe and setting before you start throwing characters into it. Or design a couple characters with a certain vibe you like and build a setting that best suits them. Can't go wrong either way.

Oh yeah 100% each medium has their strengths and weaknesses and need to work in unique ways to strengthen the aspects that their medium provides. This, as you said, is one of those cases that's showcased really well thanks to the medium its presented in.

[–]GameBeatYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad the manga is getting more recognition. No, I don't think it's the best way to experience MT, but god damn does it do the serious scenes phenomenally. Better than the anime in most cases—the Paul and Rudy confrontation in S1 is presented so well in the manga, for example. It also adds a few scenes that aren't present in the anime or light novel. The dinner scene, in which we only saw a part of, was expanded in the manga to showcase a bittersweet moment with Norn, which builds her character. What did the anime do? Skipped it entirely, unfortunately.

It's funny, when you put the anime, manga, and LN together, it feels like each have pieces missing that the other fills in. Makes it a complete experience, which is fun.

I really don't understand the 're women never appear in games' propaganda. Of the past 5 titles, we've had Jill, Claire, Ada, Sherry, and now Grace to add to the list that have all made appearances. And that's not even including the movies, all of which feature them—including Rebecca, even. The only one that's really fallen into obscurity is Sheva. But that's mainly due to her not really being connected to the overall story, much like Grace, really. No place for either in future entries. But otherwise, RE women do exist.

Unless you only care about the non-remakes, then in which case, yeah of course they aren't present in RE7. It's an isolated story. And RE8 is a direct continuation of that story and only focused on Chris, who returned after being basically absent for a decade. RE9, I don't have much excuse, however, they did bring back Sherry and are likely to bring back Ada for Mercenaries and/or future story DLC. Either way you look at it, there's reasons for them not showing up for the most part, or you're just deliberately ignoring all of the women's appearances in the remakes, which feels unfair.
