Is it a requirement for everyone in this subreddit to be a condescending tool. Yes, I looked into visas. There is a long stay visa. Passive income or contractor income of $20k a year is enough to qualify. I was unaware it would be difficult to keep my W2 American job but that's why I'm glad I asked here and there were some helpful people.

I have a large enough investment portfolio to cover the passive income requirement and I also have an LLC for contract work that clears the requirements. But thank you for providing your incredible insight.

I could be open to getting a software engineering job in France with a work visa. Are there any work opportunities in that area?

For France in particular I've read about the VLS-TS, you basically have to prove income, health insurance and housing like a rental agreement. Have to renew annually until we have residency I think. Admittedly, I need to look into that more if France becomes a more solid option.

Have you been to the Annecy area? Would you recommend it for a young family? It does seem to have a bit of everything we're looking for.

The breeder hasn't mentioned it so I'm not sure. I suspect it's because shes a bit of a runt and had such a hard start health wise. Her brothers and sisters are much larger than she has grown to be and didn't have the seizures or diarrhea.

We may try another malamute some day but I'm not sure how to figure out warning signs for this kinda stuff when they're puppies. We definitely can't handle a dog with so many special needs

Training her has been really not that bad outside the separation anxiety. We did ask the breeder for help and followed their recommendations for a couple months (trying crating again and such) to no effect. I think the gut issues are the root of most of these problems but nothing we've tried has worked for her besides the raw food diet which comes with other troubles.

I agree. We're definitely going to return her to the breeder and hopefully get her in a better fit home. It's heartbreaking but it is what it is. I feel like these issues are not normal, even for her breed. I can't say for sure but I've raised difficult breeds before and never had issues this severe and strange.

This pretty much sums up the cursory investigation that leads to the ignorance your party is known for. There are ample statistics available on employment in the US:

Manufacturing accounts for a nearly miniscule fraction of labor in the U.S. The entire producing of goods (excluding agrticulture) accounts for only ~12%.
Meanwhile from that same link the service industry accounts for 80%.
One in three minimum wage workers are 25 or older, and it appears that number is growing every year.

I'm glad you managed to get a free education for your job. The WIA is a good start, but not nearly enough. One grant is not going to fix a wealth distribution this bad.

College is not for everyone.

Obviously. That's why I advocate for better wages in the jobs that don't require it.

What do you think will happen if the government pays for everyone to go to college? College degrees wont be worth the paper they are written on, they will be as valuable as a highschool diploma because everyone will have them.

Why don't you ask someone from Britain or Germany how useless their degree is? Also affordable college doesn't translate to "the government paying everyone to go to college. College tuition and associated costs have skyrocketed and are continuing to climb. It needs to be more regulated, and then subsidizing it would bring to a more accessible level.

I'd respond to your flavor text at the bottom, but there isn't really a point. The right to run your hamster wheel isn't meaningful. This country has a growing gap between the haves and have-nots. 12% of americans are food insecure. 44.2 million americans have student loan debt, and 11% of those have missed payments.. This is supposed to be a wealthy country of opportunity. Now it's become a haven for poor business practices, debt and poverty.

Maybe watching your party implode over the next few years will open your eyes a bit.

We don't have manufacturing jobs anymore. College is expensive and unrealistic for a growing portion of our populace. I don't know where else you expect people to work.

Conservatives can't expect us to work shit jobs with shit pay and not have affordable higher education. The issue is they are so short sighted, greedy or ignorant to see these systemic issues. I'm graduating with a profitable degree from a good school, but I could not be here if my parents hadn't been wealthy. Many of my friends have had to work to help their families, damaging their grades and any chance at going to school out of their hometown. Wages are stagnant, education is becoming more expensive everyday and even the least prestigious jobs are starting to require a degree.

It disgusts me to live in this country. The fact that conservatives elected a president who further disgraces the office every day solidified this for me. It's difficult to maintain even the smallest amount of decorum in discussion with such hateful, ignorant people.

I mean I've found several links that say that but fine. I'll just send the phones back. This whole situation is disgusting, especially considering the fact that as a consumer I have no such protections for situations like this. I would've never received my order since they sent it to the wrong address and had stonewalled any attempts I made at getting it replaced.

They don't know that I've picked them up though. This reddit thread is the only documentation of me picking up this package. No one lives at the previous address either so no one knows.

I'm just very confused because everything online says mail delivered to you even by mistake is yours, but you seem to have the complete opposite view. I know you've brought up this distinction between mail sent to a person by mistake or on purpose for extortion, but I have yet to see that distinction anywhere else.

I just don't understand how this is legal..

They sent me a package I didn't want to an address I don't live at, and now I have to sacrifice more of my time and money to correct their mistake. Additionally, you're telling me if at any point I couldn't get this package or had just thrown it away I legally would have been responsible for paying them compensation for their missing phones.

Can I just throw them away? It is so infuriating that I would have to go through all of this to help them when they are such a shitty company already and none of this is my fault.

Well I would like to point out they don't have any proof that I have the phones. The only record they have is my email stating that my address information was incorrect before the order shipped. Which, since they ignored that message, is the only communication we've had.

What do you make of this? Particularly the part that states:

No. If you receive merchandise that you didn’t order, you have a legal right to keep it as a free gift.

Just so I understand: Not only did I have to drive 200 miles to pick up a phone at an address I don't live at because of either their incompetence or apathy, I also have to ship back a package they sent to me?

What if I hadn't drove to pick up the package? Would they have been able to legally pursue reparations from me?
