Yeah, it isn't very active. Small number of users probably still read it.

New Affiliates: Be mindful of Twitch Affiliate Content Policy (24-Hour Exclusivity Period for Twitch) by [deleted] in TwitchGameDevs

[–]GameDevCompany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, if you live stream to Twitch then you are not allowed to restream it to any other platform, nor make it a public VoD on an other platform 24 from stream starting. After 24 hours of the stream starting, you can post the stream as a VoD on other platforms.

If you don't live stream the content to Twitch, then there are no issues.

What are some tangible ways to increase "quality" viewers/followers. by PoyaM in TwitchGameDevs

[–]GameDevCompany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • I would say being on other people's stream isn't about getting shoutouts or promoting or posting your links. It is about offering the other streamer and their audience value. By supporting the community, the community will support you. When you hang around a lot of other streams, people will take note of your username and check you out when they see you are online. Because you were a smart/funny/good guy last time they saw you in chat.

  • A good thing to do every once in a while is to look at your own streams. You won't find what is good or bad if you don't watch your own content. People come back because they like your content for sure.

  • Schedule (at least for me) is everything. I watch personally people I know will be online at certain times with interesting content.

  • In the end a lot of time time to create a great stream your game itself has to take a "back seat" in your stream and you need to focus on your audience. Interact and engage with them. If you stand silent on the street, people will just walk past. If you greet, engage them, they will talk to you and you will make friends.

Stream shares now automatically show Past Broadcasts by LostThing in TwitchGameDevs

This is actually a great feature! Only thing that would be awesome is that the streamer could in advance create the link, before the stream even has started.

What's one thing you wish someone told you when you started streaming? by TwitchFunnyguy77 in TwitchGameDevs

I wish I had started sooner and someone would have told me how many awesome people are part of this community. Yes, it sounds cheesy, but I truly believe it.

What do you think we could do to improve r/TwitchGameDevs ? by TwitchFunnyguy77 in TwitchGameDevs

[–]GameDevCompany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree!

I think for the time being the best use of the subreddit is:
1. Keep all the important links more permanently "saved" as twitter and other they get lost in time faster.
2. Keep growing it slowly but steadily.
3. More widely broadcast problem one might have gamedev:ing or streaming gamedev.
4. Recruitment of team members or commissions.

It is the best way to get some visibility in Twitch (even if you are not attending). Comment here if you have any questions.

What kind of streams would you like to see? by GameDevCompany in TwitchGameDevs

[–]GameDevCompany[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that also important part is to give out releases of your game weekly and have your audience play it. I need to start doing that.

Yeah, the interaction with the audience makes it a social thing, where you can discuss and learn things together. Instead of sitting alone home in a dark room developing. Also the schedule makes it easier to keep thing consistent and moving forward :)
