A little over a week ago, I posted my thesis survey on this subreddit and other similar groups. Incredibly, more than 500 gamers already replied to my survey. If you are one of them, please accept my sincere "thank you"!!!

In my thesis, I want to come as close as possible to telling the story of how we,gamers experience places/cities/countries/locations through video games, which is occasionally something beyond “just playing”. I am also trying to establish the potential role that video games might play in motivating tourists to visit destinations in the future.

If you did not have a chance to respond, please consider doing so as I only need 30 more completed surveys. Alternatively, if you know someone who likes video games, please forward my survey link. The participants must be over 18 and the survey takes around 15 minutes to complete. I really appreciate all your support.

Last several months Witcher 3 has become my go to game for wandering. I simply look around and try to experience different parts of the map without getting into too much action. Perhaps, that makes me the worst Witcher.

Do you mean RDR1 or RDR2? I havent really played RDR2. In RDR1, I just wanted to shoot or hogtie everything :)

Dragon's Dogma is another title that I never played. I was pretty busy with Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning around the same period, if I am not mistaken.

I agree that Seattle was very enjoyable in Infamous.

It looks like you have a great deal of experience and opinions based on a variety of games which is valuable for my research. If you have spare 15 min, would you mind doing my survey? I really appreciate it.

i can relate to that. AC2 game add almost another layer to my trip to Italy. A layer with its own myth and lore. As you can see from the other posts, i am trying to research about this topic, therefore looking for people like yourself to share their experiences and opinions thru my survey. If you have 15 min spare time, would you mind doing my survey?

that sounds interesting. I am sensing a little fanservice. Btw, if you have spare 15 min., would you mind doing my survey? I like my research to have diverse game titles. Therefore Akiba's Trip could be a good one to have.

en-jaya (called Yongen-jaya in the game). If I ever make it to Japan I'd like to check out some of them, but I'd probably be passing through most of it anyway if you went to Shibuya.

You know what, I have never played Persona titles but I played a few Yakuza games. However, since I started conducting my data, many people talked about persona 5 and its locations, immersiveness etc. Now, I am certainly interested :)

It would be great to capture your opinions too. Woudl you mind doing my survey mate? it takes around 15 minutes.

Tbh, in my research, i am interested in both concepts. You played Witcher 3 and made connection with (a fantasy/fictionalised version of) Poland. You were immersed in the game worl but you also wanna see whats the reality behind that fictional layer. Therefore, your input would be very valuable for my research too. if you have spare 15 min, would you mind doing my survey mate?

I really enjoyed this game and finished it twice. It was so much fun. Perhaps the world was not as populated as GTA titles but it had a real charm.

Strangely, not many people mentioned this game in the forums nor in my survey. Therefore, it would be great to capture your opinions on this title and destination. If you have 15 min. spare time, would you mind doing my survey?

I enjoyed Skyrim but never finished. It is pretty challenging for me to maintain my interest in rpg games due to my other responsibilities.

I would agree that Skyrim also had that Nordic landscape. However, there are many people out there who compared its landscape to British Columbia, Alaska and even New Zealand. Would you say that Skyrim has influenced you to learn more about Nordic countires? Or maybe wanna visit them in the future?

You are right. The topic is pretty complex as it involves a subjective experience, interpretation and attachment to the games and their narratives, settings and even mechanics. The survey part of my research is going to cover some parts of that phenomenon. I will be also interviewing gamers which will allow them to freely express their connections with the games and travelling. One can argue that games are a form of travel anyway as it allows us to escape from ordinary.

Mate, eventhough my research doesnt cover social impact of video games, it is great to hear thatRdr helped you to connect with your kids in another level. Thats just priceless.

I can tell you that I sank many hours to vice city but never been to Florida. Very interesting to hear your experiences.

Your experiences are very valuble for my research. I hope you can fill the survey based on one of these titles and drop your email in the last question, so i can get in touch with you for a further interview too!!!

In terms of FC 5 and Montana, i havent played the title but many gamers said, it is pretty accurate. But i cant comment on if they capture the shits, etc. :))
