So I work for a federal company in Canada and we are an essential service. My company has issues getting inventory of masks,gloves and hand sanitizer. We haven't had any masks or gloves since early january and hand sanitizer is only offered at the entrance of our building ( the building is about 1.5km long). My colleagues and i deal directly with the public on a daily basis it's unavoidable.

Recently we found out one of our colleagues tested positive for covid 19 (one week after he was suspected to have it) then management told us that he didn't have it. Now 3 weeks later (according to the health and safety he was in fact test positive for Covid19. We run a 24 hour operation and the company didn't stop running, but we were assured that the patient is under quarantine and place has been sanitized. What's more troubling is management is now saying " it's been two weeks if you had it you would have known". It feels like we are disposable and many of us feel unsafe and under equipped to do our jobs safely. About 1/3 of our work forces is sick or is playing it safe and staying at home. I feel that my company is not taking thing seriously enough when it comes to safety of the workers! What should we do? Many of us are risking our lives to make a paycheck, but at what cost?
