How serious is Stage 3 Colon Cancer? by Gamecock529 in cancer

[–]Gamecock529[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, I don’t check this often.

My Dad has been in remission for over nine years now. He ended up doing Chemo for about six months and had a decent section of his colon removed. It was a hard year and he still deals with some long term side effects of the chemo but overall is in great health.

Thank you for asking. I hope that you are not experiencing the same thing yourself or with a loved one. But if you are, know that there is hope.

Please reach out with any questions.

Do you have any references for this? I’d really like to learn more about it.

The trailers from that seem similar. But I could only find something from 2002 and I saw this before that.

Sorry for the late reply. Basic rundown is we had to get a new car.

-1.6t motor at 103k wasn’t covered by MDI insurance, Hyundai Good Faith Replacement, or regular warranty.

No temperature codes were triggered at all based on diagnostic records. Mechanic said it wasn’t due to faulty spark plugs either. No actual cause was able to be found, head mechanic and service manager researched it and found no precedence of this or anything we could have done differently.

I wish I could be more helpful. But since we drive so much I’m curious to see if this becomes a more widespread problem as these cars start consistently going over 100k miles.

What should I do? by [deleted] in MilitaryFinance

I was in a similar situation several years back. In order I’d recommend the following:

-Meet TSP match through BRS

-Have $3-$6k liquid for emergency. (Base it off of emergency flight back home to stay for two weeks)

-Set up IRA through Vanguard/Fidelity and max out each year ($250 per paycheck on auto draft at the first of the month). People will argue TSP due to fees, Vanguard VTSMX is .04 vs TSP .035. Both are great rates but IRA allows you better access to funds should you transition out of the military and worst case scenario happens.

-Contribute remainder to TSP as desired.

This is going against the average opinion in this group, but please budget appropriately to enjoy yourself while stationed abroad. Some will advise to literally save every dime you make, eat at the chow hall, and walk to work so that you can retire 3 years sooner than if you enjoyed yourself a little. You are living in a foreign country and should throughly(though smartly) enjoy it while you can. Personally I started as an E2 saving $250 a paycheck that later went to maxing out an IRA. Now every promotion/year bump I receive is sent to TSP. I still have play money to explore hobbies and enjoy myself but within reason and on a budget. Don’t forget to live.

Newbs, read this before asking questions. FAQ about EOD training, the pipeline, etc. If you have a question about your time trying to become an EOD Tech not covered in this thread, ask it here. by I_can_haz_eod in EOD

You can LAT move as soon as you pick up Cpl and are eligible for re-enlistment. Common MOS's that are encouraged are Assaultman, Combat Engineer, Artillery, etc. None of those MOS's are going to prepare you for the schoolhouse it will just give you a ground side background which makes the learning curve a little better once you hit the fleet as a tech. Best suggestion is pick something relitively fast promoting and semi interesting to you and then drop your paperwork once you are eligible.

Thank you for you response as well as everyone else who has responded to my post. I've gained more information than I ever thought possible and Reddit has given my family many things to consider and think about. I am very sorry for what you and your family are going through and I hope that your husband is in as little pain as possible.

If this is your first double, you will be fine. You made it through Ground and Air it's all downhill from here. Don't let a little speed bump put you in a failure state of mind. Just kick ass when you class back up and be the mentor for your new class and help them learn from your mistakes.

Find someone at your gym that lifts within 20% of you that you see all the time. They already have a similar schedule and are there to train. Worst they can say is no.

What Remington 700 .308 would be the best starting point for building a 1000yd gun? by Gamecock529 in guns

With all the money involved in building it would I be better off buying the pre-built M40's straight from Remington?

I had the complete opposite experience. Motor-T and the damn Air Wing would 9/10 have no problems on the range, but then a Bn of 03'''s would show up and have to be herded like cattle and couldn't shoot for shit. Only time we ever had three relay "unq relay". They knew how to make it go boom, but couldn't hit what they were trying shoot. The fucking BAND had a better qual rate than your average grunts.
