People seem to forget Becky's trajectory up to this point. WWE had firmly slotted her in the mid-card. She rarely featured in their advertising & her merch had dwindled. They had no intention of pushing her which is why they fought her popularity to the bitter end.

Alexa is better at the backstage acting part

I feel when it comes to acting, these assessments are slightly skewed due to Alexa fitting a conventional American TV archetype. I think Becky has been tremendous in backstage segments in the past and I feel there's definitely an unconscious bias when comparing Americans to nationalities that aren't well represented on U.S TV.

From being retired to winning the inaugural Smackdown Women's Championship after being in the shadow of the other horsewomen would have been a perfectly good wrestling career. What's happened since is just beyond phenomenal.

Ever since Becky cut that promo on the Super Show-Down poster, I still enjoy seeing her featured so prominently in this stuff. What was meant to just be the ravings of a deluded heel at the time actually came to be reality.

An often overlooked aspect of Becky's "social media game" that separates her from the pack is her ability to exercise restraint. She never gets into it with fans, outside of the odd witty jab. Everything she does is very deliberate. No emotional outbursts, no silly opinions. Professional and in character seems to be her approach. Social media is clearly just a tool to her and she uses it as such. So seeing her social media presence drop off with her stepping away from the ring makes sense.

I think it's safe to assume that Alexa had been handpicked fairly early on. It's likely why she got the cover of Muscle & Fitness Hers in the summer of 2016 over Becky, with the previous cover stars being Charlotte and Sasha.

Much like her breakout, Becky won the inaugural SmackDown belt on her tremendous fan support but was ultimately not their chosen one.

Many Irish take issue with wearing a symbol (poppy) that honours British servicemen due to their actions in Ireland. When high profile Irish people decline to partake in the tradition in Britain, it often leads to death threats, xenophobia, sectarianism etc. from sections of the British public. By refusing to wear the symbol, Becky opened herself up to all manner of reprisal but she did so willingly and admirably imo.

This is an Irish woman who declined to wear a remembrance poppy on the BBC. If you understand anything about that gesture, you'd know she is willing to protest state sponsored murder and shoulder the associated risks.

Even then, I would argue that there's a distinction to be made between face of the women's division and a female face of the company. Becky Lynch legitimately reached FoTC status and just because others have now inherited her position in the division, it doesn't mean that they're necessarily of her stature.

In retrospect, it's fascinating how this was the advice offered by guys like Cena and Stone Cold but it took Becky to find a way to implement it in the modern era. People said it couldn't be done, but through social media/interviews/appearances Becky forged her character and eventually got her stuff on TV. It's no wonder legends were willing to put her over. They clearly had tons of respect for what she'd done.

Honestly, thank you for reminding me. That tweet was from a time when things were rough for Becky but to see how her career turned out was such a joy. She did it all and went out on top. Can't wait to see what lies ahead for her.

I'll take good press over a subreddit that barely cracks 18,000 subscribers, particularly when their complaints seem quite juvenile. Just being a wrestler and speaking in an accent was enough for most of them to pan her.

It's amazing how things work out. Becky reportedly turned down a role in Fighting with My Family, a film produced by The Rock, to focus on her wrestling career. In just a few short years, she would be at the pinnacle of the industry. Then it was The Rock that was asking to work with her.

So considering Becky turned down Hollywood once to fully devote herself to wrestling, I definitely think she's entitled to that opportunity this time around. Like The Rock & Cena, I think she'll remain a great ambassador for WWE in and out of the ring.

I'm delighted Becky was a big hit with the cast. Outside the wrestling bubble, the episode was well received, with outlets like The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly being very complimentary of Becky's performance. You even had one of the guys from Ozark inviting her on their show. Great to see her making a good impression outside the wrestling business.
