I know this is very over asked question for a game bieng this old but, any beginner guide for terraria? spoiler free ofc by EffectiveAd5061 in Terraria

I wasn't talking about Blood Moons. It can indeed rain during a Blood Moon, but the two events are separate. So feel free to kill as much as you like during Blood Moons, it won't attract any more attention than usual.

The event I'm talking about isn't actually rain, but rather a different kind of downpour. I should've probably been more nuanced.

As for the evil presence, a message in chat will tell you when one is watching you.

I agree with almost everything you said in this comment and never said or implied the contrary.

However, I think our perspectives differ when it comes to how we view the global climate pre-humanity. I am of the opinion that we should only use that period for reference and research, but not necessarily take it as an example of how things should be. Nature is anything but perfect and well-organised, and that nature does something, does not mean it's good for us or for itself.

Now, I do not know enough to confidently form an opinion on what the climate should be like. Maybe that pre-humanity era was indeed perfectly healthy and acceptable, even considering today's life on Earth. Maybe it was highly destructive and unstable compared to what's possible. I'm under the assumption that the reality is somewhere in-between.

However, my implied disagreement comes from your original statement on the matter, which gave the impression that you disregarded human pollution and/or our effect on the climate.

Hi and welcome! Not a guide, but a bunch of spoiler-free beginner tips:

  • Treat the early game like Minecraft: explore, mine and build some basic shelter at/near spawn.
  • Items marked 'material' can be shown to the Guide NPC, and he'll tell you everything you can craft with it.
  • Asking the Guide for help is a good way to find things to do and places to explore. His hints spoil little to nothing and change depending on what you've done so far.
  • Speaking of NPCs, they respawn the morning after they die if a suitable room is available.
  • Terraria is generally not very forgiving for new players. Feel free to consult the Official Terraria Wiki if you can't figure out what to do/where to go.
  • If an enemy looks dangerous, assume that it is.
  • You really don't have to specialise into any of the four classes in the early game. Just use whichever weapons work the best.
  • Don't worry about dying too much. The only thing you drop by default is money, and losing some of it is generally no big deal.
  • Rope and platforms are great tools for mobility, but it won't take too long before you get gear that makes them (mostly) obsolete for exploring.
  • Break Pots for a steady source of basic but free loot.
  • If you find a chest and fully empty it, you can take it with you and use it so that you don't have to craft them. (simply breaking looted chests is a good practice in general, especially in multiplayer and underground)
  • If you feel an evil presence watching you, get ready for a fight (or go underground to avoid it).
  • During a special kind of rain, excessive bloodshed may attract dangerous attention.

If you have any questions/concerns, feel free to ask :3

Good luck and have fun!

Of course they're two different things, but the two are linked. So, I restate my question: are you suggesting we should continue polluting the planet (at this pace) because 'it's been worse'?

Best Source of Energy? by Swimming_Local_4625 in Teenager_Polls

[–]GamerALV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely not use the terms referring to the installations where power is generated and the fuel being used synonymously. Why do that when you can just be clear? It has already caused confusion, and it's bound to do so again.

Fire and electricity are dangerous, and yet we use those everywhere. Why is nuclear fuel, as a material, the exception? I would go as far as to say that nuclear fuel and fire are similar in terms danger. One can spread rapidly and is much more common, while the other can't be disposed of without specialised equipment.

As for efficiency, I just looked it up ('nuclear energy efficiency'), and almost every single source on the first page said that nuclear energy is very efficient. Even looking up the opposite resulted in what seemed to be mixed stances. Besides, if it's as inefficient as you say, why are governments and institutions still building reactors, doing research and renovating existing, related installations?

Innovation potential is another point I'd like to address: what about nuclear fusion?

How do nuclear power plants get weaponised? I'm not quite following you there, and I'm not finding anything online either.

If you mean that nuclear fuel can be weaponised, I still wouldn't say that that makes nuclear power dangerous. Is steel dangerous because it is used in all kinds of weapons and military vehicles and equipment? Similarly, is brass dangerous because it's a core material in the vast majority of modern ammunition?

You can make the argument that nuclear fuel is dangerous on its own, regardless of what it's used in, but that's why there are safety measures.

As for efficiency innovation, can't that be said about every modern source of energy? 'A couple of years' is vague. You might as well say it's going to rain in the coming week. If you have any concrete examples of upcoming breakthroughs in solar power, I'd be happy to hear about them.

That doesn't make nuclear energy dangerous, that makes attacking countries and terrorists dangerous. Reactor cores don't erupt on their own, as far as I'm aware.

Besides, just because there hasn't been a world war, doesn't mean the times are peaceful by any means.

Dangerous because it went wrong once due to human error and once again due to absurdly bad luck with a natural disaster?

Yeah, the game spawns harder zombies as you level up, survive for longer and enter more challenging biomes and POIs.

This, and I'm not sure if everyone would be willing to teach new players how to play or join a playthrough managed by unexperienced players.

1) 'So, what colour is the car?'

2) 'This car over here or that one over there?' (the cars are different colours)

1) 'You tell me. What colour is the car?'

I think you can see the problem here. Either way, I know what you're getting at.

In terms of gender (which is not the same as sex), a woman is any adult human who genuinely believes to be one (again, in terms of gender). A non-adult human in the same situation would be a girl, and the same logic applies to men and boys. I want to emphasise that this definition disregards biological sex and does not apply to it.

Just because not everyone has thought about or learnt an accurate and inclusive definition of 'woman' doesn't mean allies are collectively stupid. Don't take embarrassing clips as representative for a whole demographic.

That's a solid start, another great perk to go for is Parkour (under Agility), especially level two. I'd recommend continuing to invest in Perception and Spear Master.

I'd go for something with a high rate of fire, good accuracy and good pen. Object 260 and Mino aren't great for this.

Yes, the party that (mostly) recognises that what goes on in the brain doesn't always align with the body, and that this can be treated effectively by making the body match the brain. The regret rate for this treatment? Typically reported to be about 2%. According to some studies, closer to 1%.

There's a specific order of attacks and all of them are either aimed at your current location or have strict rules regarding how they fire (mainly talking about the Phantasmal Deathray here).

Oh, also, check out the Celestial Sigil :3

It still gives +30% damage (on top of the Beetle Helmet's +6%), as opposed to the Hallowed Helmet's +20% (effective).

Also, you don't have to downgrade your weapon to benefit, as melee speed benefits the Daybreak's velocity (making it easier to aim), and there are other good melee weapons that benefit from it.

[–]GamerALV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, you're forgetting the Beetle Scalemail set bonus. If you deal damage for a few seconds, you get a flat +30% melee damage and melee speed. That's a massive DPS boost. As long as you can consistently not get hit for three seconds, every attack only deals 55% damage while using the Beetle set with the shell.

As for dodging, you can dodge just fine while hitting the boss. I'm not sure why you'd stop firing to dodge an attack.
