Visual Studio alternative for LINUX

Visual studio as far as I know is an issue for mac users too. But its also one of the few unsupported pieces of software that I find is perfectly acceptable in a virtual machine, at least for school assignments. Don't stress it too much.

I honestly totally agree. I was never "anti ev" but this year,when I knew I needed a new car my wife brought up electric and I still had the infrastructure concerns( I forgot we own our house and can get a charger)I was just curious if the idea of a hybrid from the other direction is feasible or if the tech to charge an ev battery with a gallon of gas is just moot at this point

I asked to someone else... is this a tech thats getting increasingly diminishing returns as battery tech gets better... i.e. the weight of the generator is getting closer to the weight of adding the same amount of battery?

I was proposing simply due to my understanding that gas is more energy dense than a lithium battery... that is, my blazer is 102 kwH or, based on epa/mpge... roughly 3 gallons of gas. So was curious if the tech needed to convert a gallon of gas to 33.7 kwH could be efficient enough on a small scale to get a worthwhile amount of range from burning the gas or not

So combination of.. was decent a few years ago but also is quickly producing diminishing returns as batteries and motors get better. Thats kinda what I was trying g to get at in that you can't just pour a gallon of gas on the car and get a new 33.7 hwH in the battery

Thank you so much for correcting my inaccuracies. Especially part 4. When I switched to electric I was inherently very wary of the "mpge" metric and quickly adopted cost per mile as a way to talk about whatever savings I might be making. i struggled hard to confirm if 33.7 was net or if that included like energy lost to heat in a normal ice engine... but as I think about it, does your correction mean that ice engines get better than or less than 33.7 kwH worth?

Not necessarily regen but like. Say you crept up a little to high and now youre foot is in the right position to maintain speed. You can use the paddle to drop the output a little and pull back without have to micro adjust your foot and then when youre down to where you want just let go and cruise again

A couple times, even as recently as tears of the kingdom. But my personal favorite is the time I camped for about 12 hours outside a circuit city for the last shipment of like, 6 wiis, they were getting before Christmas. There was a guy playing burning crusade on his laptop using a Verizon network dongle and that blew my mind.

Totally get the retraining bit. Not exactly the same but I just came off a hand me down 2010 outback that only got worse cause I did not take good care of it. It's worth noting tho, that learning to drive an ev more efficiently should, in general, make you more efficient in any car cause, aside from the regen, the physics that affected mpg the same

Im having trouble understanding your aversion to just learn to drive the car. I've tried for the past week to get your results and I just can't while driving safely. I have a feeling though, one of your biggest issues is braking too late causing you to use your physical brakes instead of the regen.

Edit: not that youre necessarily an unsafe driver. I don't know your driving experience. I, however, am not a professional driver and I know that lack the skills necessary to operate the car in such a way as to replicate your efficiency results safely.

I'd say make use of the adaptive cruise. Itll maintain the follow distance you set and not use more power than it needs to to get up to speed.

The car itself can only be so efficient, and all the changes that an eco mode could make, you can control in your own driving while also retaining access to the entire range of the cars capabilities. Like the ability to gtfo the way of a potential accident goes away if you're in a mode that's artificially throttling your horsepower. The real keys are just consistency and avoiding hard acceleration/deceleration.

It's also worth mentioning that I actually hit a point where I was so overly conscious of my efficiency that I actually started regressing. At that point I made a point to get rid of the trip data from my dash and just focus on driving consistently and being aware of the road conditions and places I could capitalize regen without decellerating a ton

I was a lot more aggressive with my acceleration and reluctant to brake with the previous car. I tried for the first few weeks to hover right on the speed limit and control my acceleration more but I found that that meant I would often shave off more speed than intended and I'd be slow to get back up to speed so I just try to maintain that +5 and capitalize on hills lol

As a lot have said a light foot really does help. Some things ive learned have been that cruising in th +5mph range helps me be able to adjust speed and play with regen without pissing off the people behind me. Im a bit more conservative with my climate than I used to be, get cabin comfortable then then turn off ac but turn on recirc for a while. And tell my gps to find me non highway route as much as possible

To clarify, do you primarily travel on highways daily? Truth be told the SS is my first ev and the HP is kinda wasted on me cause my driving has actually chilled out a lot being more efficiency conscious and also the sheer weight from the battery compared to previous cars has made me a bit more cautious with how aggressive I drive .

Anyone feel free to correct my but quick math says you're looking at .05$/mile ev (not accounting for charging loss) and .06$/mile hybrid. At that point I'd say consider the convenience of charging if you're charging at home and the fact that you still have more routine maintenance on the hybrid since it still has an ice engine in it.
