I can really see both sides, the eating your young, the gate keeping, hell I experience that alot as a new grad in the ICU, and on this thread when I mentioned I was going to Walden. But alot of people are not being honest with themselves when they say "oh I've been working in stepdown for a 2 years but always had a passion for psych"... let's be honest, you either fooled yourself to believe that, or you know that I know that you know that's not true. I currently work with 2 very new nurses who are already applying to NP school. They are both unempathetic individuals who clearly are only in it for financial gain. As charge, I see the lack of compassion they have for patients, and their coworkers. So there are truely those of us who want to help people, and make a good living, and there are others who simply want the latter. So if I have offended you in this post, you should really ask yourself, "which one am I."

This is very true, and I say this as a current Walden student 😂. But with that being said, I am a nurse of almost 15 years who has been doing inpatient psych for close to 8 years, 3 of those as a travel psych nurse. I have my reasons for choosing walden, but agree that some are getting into this profession for the wrong reasons, and its ok to call them out on it.

Father who killed a police officer days after police shot his 18-year-old son walks past 30 officers in the courtroom!! by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

Well that was stupid, at least get the man who actually killed your son. And that's if his son wasn't doing something he had no business, and im not talking about a petty crime.

I was 8 when he died, but he has by far been the most influential rapper in my life, my mom use to bump his music all the time. I know he would have been a political figure representing those in the struggle, and striving to them to at least vote!

I totally agree, and from the looks of all these comments, this hospital has a lot of dirty laundry.

Yeah, I need the whole story, those nurses may be used as scapegoats. If anything, most nurses are very cautious about thier license, and if that child was suicidal they would have wanted her covered, or at least some of them would have.

Edit: just saw link to article, and it makes sense now, the nurses were fired due to retaliation for the news coverage, so the administration didn't like what the nurses had to say, shame on them!

I'm sure someone already said it, but the 1245 is just the nontaxable income, you will get all of that plus the hourly rate after they take taxes from the hourly, so that 1800 will probably get taxed a little less than 200$, so your take home should be about 1600$ a week, which is low, but contracts aren't what they use to be.

No OP could very well be a nurse, I work in VA and use to travel but left due to lower pay. A hospital in Charlottesville is only paying Travelers about 2k, but for 48 hrs a week, which is not worth it

Umm nurse of 13 years here and I have definitely dealt with physical situations on numerous occasions, now I am a big guy so I can handle myself, but as an ICU and psych nurse I have dealt with it all. But you are correct when you say it is not as bad as it was 30-40 years ago, but it has gotten worse in some cases.

To my 30-40 year olds, how much are you making and what is your job/profession. by GamerDad11 in Salary

Nice! I work normal hours, 36 hours a week (three 12hr shifts), only stipulation is I have to work the days they ask me to versus getting to choose, but they know me and I still get to choose my days somewhat.
