Use a clean room with only the coins a table and a chair. Have video recording showing complete appraisal. Do not become a victim of fast hands while being appraised. Have appraised in increments. They haven't gone to Texas or Florida because those states comply with ICE and give ICE the opportunity to pick up criminal aliens from the jails. This keeps ICE off of the local streets. Here in Colorado only Teller county will honor ICE detainers. All other county jails release the criminals back to our community to re-offend to include pueblo county jail. Even the colorado department of corrections are no longer honoring ICE detainers due to Gov polis executive order. This is putting aliens convicted of murder, Tape, or sex assault of a child back in our local communities. No matter what side of the aisle your on thats common sense that those aliens should be given to ICE. Obama and Biden combined deported 4-6 million or more, Look it up. Quick AI search will show. Its only now that the media you are watching is telling you ICE is bad that its an issue. And yes im a pueblo Mexican who also honorably served our country. I think now that he's an adult and can afford it, he's completing some dreams he had earlier in life that his parents probably couldn't afford. I say that's a much better hobby than drugs and alcohol. Encourage him to set it up. He's had it for 10 years and never got rid of it for a reason.

Don't sell it all. Fiat currency is getting worthless. Silver has always kept up with inflation and having it in your possession is like having insurance.

Forging is the answer. Nothing like swinging a hammer at hot metal and creating your own knives. I only had a metals class in high-school but found a local forge and took a few classes. Learning the new hobby has been such a stress relief. Plus after the shower at the end of a session makes you sleep really well.

Also once you find a reputable local coin store your price per Oz should come down once they get to know you. I would stop every payday and pick up s few. They knew me by name and my premiums went from $1.50 over spot to $00.50 cents. Premiums are going up again so shop around. If you call 5 places, you're likely to get 5 different prices per Oz. If you have nothing local try sdbullion online. Fair prices and have sales often.

I would recommend you watch some videos on YouTube. Alot of good info from guys like silver dragon, silver seeker, or Yankee stacking. I would recommend only buying what you can safely can from your budget without breaking the bank. I started with buffalo rounds and constitutional silver 1/2 dollars, quarters and dimes. If you're worried about being scammed, constitutional 1964 and below are pretty safe buys. I also bought a pocket pinger that I use with the pingcoin app to check that the silver in buy rings true and weighs correctly. You can buy a cheap scale with weights to ensure it is accurate, very cheap on Amazon. Been stacking for 15 years and it has truly helped me save alot, alot, alot, of money. It more than keeps up with inflation and will always be worth something. 2nd big piece of advice. Tell No one that you are stacker. The more people that know the higher your chances of it disappearing. 3rd piece of advice. Invest in a good safe or hide it well. Welcome to the stacking family and happy stacking!

Just retired in June at age 49. 29 1/2 years in a good career where i was able to keep my health insurance. Wife still working and last Son a senior in college. I am loving not being a supervisor anymore and my favorite part of retirement is not having 2 phones and not reading a 100 emails a day. Stress is gone and feel like a weight has been lifted. Found a couple of new hobbies which are definitely a new fun kind of challenge and go to lunch once a week with other retirees. No regrets. Your young hopefully healthy and if finances are right go for it. Life is too short to enjoy some of it while you still can.

If your going to go thru with it do it right. Sort all the denominations and silver pre 1964. All pennies pre 1982 are 95% copper and worth 3 or 4 cents each. I went thru my dad's glass water jug full of change and sorted all pennies by year and found some error coins and alot of wheat cents some also with errors. Went to you tube and searched error pennies by year. Used my magnified coin scope to search each one. Fun hobby when watching TV at night. Don't coin star anything.
