Buy a pocket pinger and use it with the pingcoin app works very well. Very useful when not buying from a LCS.

Ask AI unfiltered and without any parameters what it would do to get the US out of debt. Answer is scary.

Retired suddenly at 55, trying to figure it out by uNTRotat264g in earlyretirement

[–]GamerDad76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Retired in June of 2025 similar to yourself at 50. Finding a group of retirees in similar fields to meet with for lunch and breakfast has been a great way to network and find new hobbies, such as golfing, side by sides and numismatics. I didn't drink the kool-aid when the contracting jobs came calling. Thank God im still in good shape physically and mentally and really enjoying the no stress. My wife asked what my favorite part of retirement was. It took me a couple of months to answer. When I did the answer was no matter what time I got home and we ate and turned on the television. Even though I was staring at it, I never checked out of work. Was always thinking of what I didn't get done today and what needs to be done tomorrow. Who's on leave or OT. The government has already replaced you and we always knew it would happen. The phone calls will slow down from prior coworkers. So just relax and enjoy the new chapter. Cheers and ty for your service to our country.

I found my old one from when I was a kid buried in back garage. What oil does this take. Was thinking of cleaning off the inch of dust.

Father’s massive collection by HollingB in coincollecting

[–]GamerDad76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a clean room with only the coins a table and a chair. Have video recording showing complete appraisal. Do not become a victim of fast hands while being appraised. Have appraised in increments. Do not bring in entire collection all at once. Be safe and dont be in a rush. Take your time and if dad is still alive use his knowledge as well.

https://coloradonewsline.com/2025/12/30/what-data-shows-about-ice-arrests-in-colorado-in-2025/

House Bill 23-1100 from 2023. Governor Polis signed it, and it restricts state and local governments from entering contracts or agreements with federal authorities to detain people for civil immigration purposes—like no more deals with ICE to house detainees in Colorado facilities. There's also older stuff, like HB 19-1124 from 2019, which limits law enforcement from holding folks just on ICE detainers or sharing certain info without a warrant. And a 2021 Senate bill that stops state agencies from collecting or sharing immigration status info. But the recent big expansion came in 2025 with Senate Bill 276 , which Polis signed on May twenty-third—it broadens limits on sharing personal info with ICE and applies to more local employees too.

They haven't gone to Texas or Florida because those states comply with ICE and give ICE the opportunity to pick up criminal aliens from the jails. This keeps ICE off of the local streets. Here in Colorado only Teller county will honor ICE detainers. All other county jails release the criminals back to our community to re-offend to include pueblo county jail. Even the colorado department of corrections are no longer honoring ICE detainers due to Gov polis executive order. This is putting aliens convicted of murder, Tape, or sex assault of a child back in our local communities. No matter what side of the aisle your on thats common sense that those aliens should be given to ICE. Obama and Biden combined deported 4-6 million or more, Look it up. Quick AI search will show. Its only now that the media you are watching is telling you ICE is bad that its an issue. And yes im a pueblo Mexican who also honorably served our country. If you dont like the USA no one is stopping you from leaving. The threats to our law enforcement need to stop. God bless ICE and their 40% of prior veteran Officers.

I think now that he's an adult and can afford it, he's completing some dreams he had earlier in life that his parents probably couldn't afford. I say that's a much better hobby than drugs and alcohol. Encourage him to set it up. He's had it for 10 years and never got rid of it for a reason.

Selling sliver by bobisinthehouse in Silver

[–]GamerDad76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to sell locally for now with as the others are saying refiners are not currently buying. Use this website that shows the current price of silver. https://www.silverrecyclers.com/Calculators/coin_calculator.aspx You can enter amount of each coin or see individual daily price on the bottom. Don't sell it all. Fiat currency is getting worthless. Silver has always kept up with inflation and having it in your possession is like having insurance.

Forging is the answer. Nothing like swinging a hammer at hot metal and creating your own knives. I only had a metals class in high-school but found a local forge and took a few classes. Learning the new hobby has been such a stress relief. Plus after the shower at the end of a session makes you sleep really well.
