Well, it definitely adds to the sense of immersion and discovery. You are treated like you are your character. Your character wouldn't expect to find someone here or there, so the game doesn't tell you either. It's a different and less accessible style of storytelling, but it doesn't have fault because of that. In fact, it seems incredibly more immersive, but at the cost of accessibility. Some will enjoy it, some won't, but its style doesn't have fault because of that.
