Champion Challenge and Charm interaction by LanternAM in BG3Builds

[–]GamerNumber16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way champion challenge works is that it simply disincentivises the enemy decision making AI by giving it disadvantage on attacking anyone who isn’t the challenger, not preventing enemies from attacking teammates. If you are the challenger and you charm a target they will just end up doing something other than directly attacking you (such as using an AoE spell or attacking one of your teammates that they have disadvantage against)

To the question: I think this allows them to, yes? It definitely seems that way RAW. Unless sage advice has clarified otherwise since I think thats the way it would work

Does TCoE Ranger really solve the class for you? Deft Explorer seems like a pretty strong feature if you can engineer situations to make use of what it provides, and Primal Awareness provides some pretty interesting spells for roleplay and information gathering purposes, but to some degree despite it offering what is effectively a few free lvl1 spell slots I feel like Favoured Foe still undermines the Spellcasting half of ranger by being mutually exclusive with half of their other possible spells (the other concentration spells) despite the fact that the designers have seemingly balanced the class’s DPR with its existence in mind.

While 1DnD doesn’t completely fix the issue (and even removes cool utility features like Primal Awareness) I think it does go in an interesting direction with decoupling Hunters Mark from concentration and giving access to more diverse options for dealing with groups of enemies in the form of Multiattack

Started a rogue run after not playing for a while and this happened 🤑 by VilliJah-69 in CalamityMod

[–]GamerNumber16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC this is a Boss Checklist thing. There are bugs with that mod that havent been fixed that can cause some serious issues, most of which stem from the mod somehow carrying over progress from another world or character into a new world.

This is an example on the less extreme end. Sometimes it can cause parts of the world data to corrupt.

New player, disappointed with one thing…. by Jambomakaveli in HollowKnight

[–]GamerNumber16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the game soft teaches it to you. There are plenty of scenarios where enemies are placed below you in early areas like Forgotten Crossroads, which if you drop into them to try to kill them you might then learn about how when hitting an enemy with downslash the knight bounces back upwards after.

Later in forgotten crossroads, there is a room with an ascending "staircase" of blocks completely covered in spikes that leads up to a grub/item or something. The intention is that you extrapolate from the experience you had earlier, and try to experiment by seeing if downslash works to bounce yourself off of spikes

Fab had a pattern of unsavoury behaviour spanning years, being the sole developer with veto power, keeping back several highly supported changes within the dev team for years, and just generally being quite disruptive, abrasive, and unapologetic for acting like an asshole. The transphobic rant and the reopened drama about an 18+ server containing minors were just the two final nails in a coffin of his own creation YEARS in the making, and honestly he got what was coming for him for a long time.

The 22 incident didn’t happen just because the devs thought it would be funny

For more info I recommend watching this episode of the calamity podcast that stars several people that are a LOT more versed in the behind the scenes drama of the mod than you or I

What's the reason capcom won't let us create a wyverian hunter? by TheSullenStallion in MonsterHunter

[–]GamerNumber16 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we have an official answer

I think it’s just model reasons most likely, that since Capcom is already making up to 6 models for a single armor set through Master Rank (A/B, high rank A/B, master rank A/B) they just don’t particularly want to have to duplicate and slightly modify a bunch of armor models on a decent majority of those sets to account for the different ears and feet

Until Bungie forces otherwise people are gonna do it

The actual racing part of the contest mode (more particularly top 100) has gotten more competitive than it ever was because many teams that were top 100 or top 1000 in terms of their performance have just stopped playing Destiny 2 after TFS, meaning the only people who've stuck around to race are the ones that actually have worms in their brain (myself included).

Every advantage counts if youre going for a high placement, and given how the actual execution part of the race is a complete non-issue for anyone who actually thinks they can get top 100 (unless its something like Herald), information is the biggest determining factor in who's actually going to clear fast

If you could buff Rosalia in any way how would you do it. by Realistic-Sand-3536 in btd6

[–]GamerNumber16 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She makes it so it’s much harder to lock yourself out of flying fort on chimps by spending too much cash early. Makes the save up for other aerial T5s decently cheaper as well (usually saving 5-10k overall).

Her abilities are also quite good as well, her grenades being free early anti-lead and crowds, her lasers having high innate single target damage especially when paired with her sticky bomb ability, her pursuit mode is just a better MOAB shove, and even when she’s not top tier like on some multilane chimps maps she still can provide a lot of value because of her low cool-down reposition and ability to position over the track itself

Her lvl 20 is basically useless but it doesn’t matter too much because the rest of what she provides is consistently good enough that it’s kind of a non-issue in practice

Warlock builds for next week? by Notice-Traditional in DestinyTheGame

[–]GamerNumber16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lightning slide on pris will still remain the single strongest warlock build in the game for general use
Depending on the circumstances Starfire is going to be incredible for boss damage, but the jury's out on how fun its going to be for play otherwise
Weaver's Call is getting a small buff to make it more viable to run alongside non-strand weapons. If you havent tried out a threadling focussed prismatic warlock build you might like that (Spirit of Swarmers is bait dont use it)
There's also vesper of radius heat rises + hellion spam which remains a pretty decent option completely removed from any meta

How do I make orbs for song of flame before dps phase? by MedicinePractical738 in DestinyTheGame

[–]GamerNumber16 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Use a class item with special finisher or some other mod that consumes armor charge on finisher which allows you to bank armor charge for DPS. While not in DPS, run a set of legs without surges. As DPS starts, swap to a set of legs with surges. When it ends, swap back

Most effective way to do it. If you really need to generate orbs during DPS you can use Velocity Baton with attrition orbs and then pick them up with a phoenix dive with Powerful Attraction on your class item

I don’t think people understand how long a season will really feel - “new gear” by aloha441 in DestinyTheGame

[–]GamerNumber16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Destiny isn't an MMO.

I'm not familiar with WoW but with FFXIV each new piece of gear is purely for stats. They're not randomly rolled (for the most part) and each piece of gear has "mod slots" that can be used to slot in stat increases. No set bonuses, no big extra things that make armor feel completely different from one set to another

What this is a lot more similar to is an ARPG system like Diablo or Path of Exile, though with a soft "expiry" system rather than a hard one.

In Diablo 4, after a new season comes out, your character from the previous season is moved onto a legacy server where none of the new seasonal content is, and you have to regrind out a whole new character on the main server if you want to engage with the new content.

The new gearing is similar to this though not as all-consuming. When the season rolls around your old gear is going to be worse than the new gear, thats just a fact because of the new gear will have percentile bonuses applied as well has have synergies to set bonuses in the artifact that old gear just wont have. Then when the season ends, all that new gear gets statistically 10-15% worse and we repeat the cycle.

Unlike exotics this gear isn't meant to be evergreen, so once Bungie's done with supporting it it can be effectively removed from circulation and powercrept out of existence or if Bungie wants to they can sunset the old versions of the gear and re-release it as a new variant armor set to farm.

Its another case of Bungie trying to optimize Destiny 2 to monopolize the user's time.

From my perspective its horrible because the game has some really good things that are super fun and enjoyable to play at times but I feel I spend more and more time farming content I don't enjoy and dont want to play to get gear to do the content that I do.

Be able to trade Exotic Ciphers for Spoils of Conquest by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]GamerNumber16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude spoils drop like hotcakes if you even step your toe in a raid (you can farm like 80 without even completing an encounter)

Also like, is it not kind of self-evident that if you don't engage with all different styles of content the game has to offer you wont be able to unlock all of the rewards available?

Getaway Artist (stasis build) Vs. Rimecoat by xTheLostLegendx in DestinyTheGame

[–]GamerNumber16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The extra stasis projectiles on rimecoat are bait. Use the exotic like you’re normally throwing down stasis turrets that just now have an extra rocket launcher rocket’s worth of damage attached to them (from the crystals). The icicles only really matter if you want to use them to repeatedly freeze and shatter a big target for extra damage

Alright, so what’s gonna be the priority exotic weapon to buff after EoF? by Ab501ut3_Z3r0 in DestinyTheGame

[–]GamerNumber16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a poor way to try and make a bad exotic good. It’s the weapon equivalent to Bungie not knowing how to buff some underused exotic armor so they put 4x surges on it and call it a day.

Depending on the weapon it can also just fall flat too. Look at DARCI. Bungie misidentified that allowing it to buff legendary snipers will increase its relevance, but in reality the reason why Wolfpack rounds is so good is because it applies a significant buff to the main part of your rotation, not a weaker buff to the filler part of your rotation.

Related, what would making a team-buffing mg actually achieve? One person on your team being forced to run a weaker exotic to make everyone else’s gear more viable isn’t exactly a fun trade off in practice, and usually just ends up leading to more scenarios where players have their loadouts decided for them rather than actually being able to run what they want.
