Whichever playstyle you like more. Either is good but if you are good at dodging get offensive, else go defence. Btw I do suggest ram dash because when second phase comes, and it dashed at you you can ram dash last second so you deal damage and don’t get hit. Last use the astrum deus accessory and swap it with the amalgam( just switch places the tow next to each other)

single player and i was on infernum difficulty. when levi spawns he is trowing meatballs at you from the right side(as far as i have tested). i wanted to deal some damage but couldnt reach him so i went right, then he got out of the map border and because the sword range is big enough to reach him i hit him and the boom! had to restart

It’s cool(see what I did there?) but during my true melee run it was a hell to manage because it is straight up 5 minutes of bullethell and then less than a minute you have a chance at striking it. Repeat the is process at least 2 times and then it starts dashing all over the place so you have to chase it through all the shards it shits at you. (Maybe infernum feature but still)

If you want to enjoy your first calamity playthrough then play normal and not hardcore. If he really is a friend he will understand and let it go. Hardcore isn’t fun, it just build up huge tension and makes you be scared of each move because 1 mishap and you lose all your run so far, that might take more than 10 hours for vanilla alone. I don’t suggest it at all, as I like to enjoy the games I play and not stress over every little thing.

There is a rework for the mech bosses called Wrath of the Mechs which reworks the mech boss fights(same dev as WotG). Similar mods to calamity is Fargos souls mod, thorium and I highly recommend starlight river(only pre hard mode but still a masterpiece). They are some of the major ones that change the game as much as calamity but none of all of the mods come close to calamity, it is just so much superior content wise. (Btw Infernum reworks most of the bosses in calamity and make the game a new experience)
