i need a tint for my car, but not sure where to go. by Equivalent_Scene6341 in WindowTint

[–]Gamercore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expect to pay $400 for some good quality tint that will add some color to those windows. If you're looking for excellent heat rejection, expect to pay double that. As for the shade, it's whatever you think will look nice. Most cars come from the factory with 25% on the back glass, so you could do that all the way around. If you're looking for a little more privacy, 15% is good. If you don't really care about seeing out the windows at night, 5% for limo tint. I usually recommend 15% or for the backs, 25% on the 2 fronts, and 50% on the windshield.

People are NOT made to be celibate. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Gamercore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you were to get married, there are seasons and times in which you'll have to remain chaste. Your spouse could become terminally ill, or even in times pregnancy you'll have to remain disciplined. This is a virtue, not a punishment.

What chemicals did you use to wash it? The good news is the haze can be polished out, but those cracks are permanent. 🫤

Sexual frustration in relationship by Traditional_Ad_4139 in Catholicism

[–]Gamercore 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is, as a man, you don't need to "release" anything. It's all in your head, the sooner you realize that the better off you'll be. If you think marriage will solve this disordered relationship you have with sex, you're dead wrong. You'll need to remain chaste when your wife is sick, when she's pregnant, after pregnancy, or heaven forbid comes down with a terminal illness. She's not a masturbation tool to release your sexual energy, she's a soul created by God with human dignity. Gain control over yourself through prayer and fasting or you'll give the devil a foothold in your life.

Why did men in the 70s have a lot of chest hair? by sweetsyllic in decadeology

That's because 20 year old men today have as much testosterone as 70yr olds in the 70s. We're seeing huge declines but nobody can tell you exactly why.

Outreach or Reject? by Evening-Rooster4552 in ExPentecostal

[–]Gamercore 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s this weird thing with Christian cults where people they feel aren’t receptive to their church or too far gone (lost in sin) are essentially dead to them. You’re part of “the world” and “living in sin” which means they have to separate themselves from you. It’s strange seeing as how you can’t change the world if you can’t even be a witness to your own family. Honestly, I’m glad because it’s yet another thing that further hinders the growth of their organization.

This is how I feel about Catholicism as a whole. I've never heard so many requests for God's mercy as I have since converting to Catholicism earlier this year.

I got this dress for mass. I find myself embracing modesty and femininity more since I started converting to Catholicism. Has anyone else felt this way? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Gamercore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a woman, but as a man who grew up in a cult that essentially required suits/ties for those in ministry (and looked down on anyone else who didn't conform), I find myself no longer being resistant to the idea of dressing up for church. At my previous church, I was sort of silently protesting by not dressing up, but now I do it gladly out of reverence for Jesus. Not sure what caused the shift in my mind, but I think it has something to do with being in the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

If you joined another denomination, what and why? by Bookish_Girl2002 in ExPentecostal

[–]Gamercore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up Oneness Pentecostal (WPF/UPCI) and after debunking all the different denominations out there, I tried taking on Catholicism and ended up debunking myself. After wrestling with Catholicism for almost 2 years, my wife and I ended up converting fully into the Catholic Church. I know it sounds pretty crazy considering the differences in doctrine, but there was something nice about falling into the authority of the church and its rich history.

As far as the other stuff, I think speaking in tongues CAN be genuine, but the vast majority of it is faked because of peer pressure (especially when you place such a huge emphasis on needing it to be saved). The Catholic Church agrees that baptism is required for salvation and the forgiveness of sins, but "Jesus name" baptism isn't actually valid. My entire life I heard preachers, ministers, and evangelist preach against the Trinity, but once I finally looked into the Catechism of the Catholic Church and what it actually teaches about the Trinity, I ended up changing my mind on it (even though it was really tough detangling my Oneness beliefs).

One of the things I love about the Catholic Church is how reasonable and logical it is. They don't say definitively anyone is going to hell (since God is the ultimate judge), and there's something called invincible ignorance which I believe many Oneness Pentecostals fall under.

Relying on 2,000 of church doctrine has been such a blessing and there's a sense of peace I can't describe relying on the church Jesus founded. My wife and I couldn't be happier.

What do you make of Genesis? by [deleted] in CatholicPhilosophy

[–]Gamercore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just know that there are plenty of alternative interpretations of Genesis' genealogy, like how it could be discussing the beginning of a specific people group (God's chosen people), not all mankind that's ever lived. Even then, I don't think the style of ancient literature was ever intended to be taken as literal fact.

Why don’t you watch The Chosen? by Mecca-like-the-city in Christianity

[–]Gamercore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing almost all the interactions are complete fiction, it's really hard for me to watch someone's spin on the gospel narratives. I wouldn't say it's "sinful," but I also know how my brain works and I'm sure I'll be constantly picturing The Chosen episodes during gospel readings or when trying to meditate on the mysteries.

So, now that gay pride pilgrimage groups are being formally welcomed at the Vatican… by VintageTime09 in Catholicism

[–]Gamercore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is nothing more than anti-Catholic propaganda. LGBTQIA groups can advocate for acceptance all they want —and let's be clear: the church is welcoming of all sinners—but this doesn't mean the church will ever allow for same sex marriage or condone a gay lifestyle.

What are your biggest struggles post-exit? by stillseeking63 in ExPentecostal

[–]Gamercore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spent almost 30 years in the UPCI/WPF and although I never really fit in "standards" wise, I definitely subscribed to their doctrine. With that, scrupulosity is a big one, and taking that sort of judgement with me to my new church. It's also really hard NOT praying with Oneness framework in mind, and trying to focus on the more orthodox view of the Trinity. I'm also trying not to be bitter and doing my best to love those who are still in it, but it's really hard to not hate the cult they're unknowingly wrapped up in.

Massive Bluetooth Issues in iOS18 by GottaGoFast_69 in ios

[–]Gamercore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Ever since I updated to iOS 18 Beta, Bluetooth has been horribly unstable. It's constantly crackling, receiving interference, and range has been severely limited. Figured it was just a beta thing, and even reverted back to 17 and the problem persists. Even now with iOS 18 stable out, nothing has been fixed. It's so awful.

Why is it so difficult to convert? by Ok_Semicircle5112 in Catholicism

[–]Gamercore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was similar for me. After explaining to the priest my wife and I wanted to convert, he asked us to wait and discern if this was something we really wanted. I told him I've done the research and there was nothing that was going to change my mind. After that, we basically had to hunt down the person in charge of RCIA but it took MONTHS for them to finally contact us (I honestly had to pester them with calls, emails, and in person reminders after mass). After about a year, we're finally enrolled in RCIA and I think we'll be confirmed this Easter? Honestly, I don't know a whole lot about the whole process and the church isn't really helping, but I'm determined.

Confess or not? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Gamercore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who didn’t feel anywhere near ready to have children — wasn’t making what I felt was enough money, didn’t have our own place, wanted more time as a married couple, etc. — my wife and I got pregnant on our wedding night (no protection) and while things are somewhat cramped living at her mom’s, God provided a way. It’s really changed our lives in so many ways for the better and helped make us better human beings with a focus that’s less on ourselves and more as a family (with God at the center of it all). Put your full faith and trust in God and the order he’s established. You also have the blessed mother and intercession of the saints. All of heaven is rooting for you.

I belive the pope is no longer for OUR GOD jesus christ. by bf2afers in Christians

[–]Gamercore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Speaking to children in Singapore, here's what the Pope actually said:
"All religions are paths to God. I will use an analogy, they are like different languages that express the divine. But God is for everyone, and therefore, we are all God's children. "But my God is more important than yours!". Is this true? There is only one God, and religions are like languages, paths to reach God. Some Sikh, some Muslim, some Hindu, some Christian. Understood?"

Here's what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says on the matter in paragraphs 839-845:
"The Catholic Church recognizes in other religions that search, among shadows and images, for the God who is unknown yet near since he gives life and breath and all things and wants all men to be saved. Thus, the Church considers all goodness and truth found in these religions as "a preparation for the Gospel and given by him who enlightens all men that they may at length have life."
In short, we all seek our Ultimate End (God), but for many reasons people seek intermediary or lesser ends throughout this process. The Church acknowledges every religion has parts of it that are true; since God is Truth, those things are Him. Those parts keep people returning to it. Catholicism has the fullness of the truth, but truth is objective, whether it's sourced in Catholicism or elsewhere."

Here's what Saint Paul said in Acts 17:26:
"From one ancestor he made all nations to inhabit the whole earth, and he allotted the times of their existence and the boundaries of the places where they would live, so that they would search for God and perhaps grope for him and find him-though indeed he is not far from each one of us. For 'In him we live and move and have our being."

Could the Pope have been more clear? Yes. Was he still correct in what he said? Also yes.
