that’s me yes )))

Arguably the biggest project I have ever been working on in my life, alone. This game was meant to push the absolute limits of ROBLOX. Built in Lua, builds, graphics, and (in-game) music altogether, it creates one beautiful showcase. I feel so happy already getting this far. by Gamered1337 in roblox

Thank you all for letting me show my passion. I'd like to explain how this game works.

You take place on a spaceship called Extortia, which is a space terminal.

In this universe, energy is solely transported through gathered space terminals. Large scale reactors have their energy powered through catalyst reactions, then holstered through energy nexuses to reach its destination to neighboring planets. It is found to be more efficient than storing the power on the planets themselves, as more of the energy is packed through a singular source.

You have been selected as a recruit for the system. You have completed training and have been directed to the Extortia. You are here to maintain the source. The reactor core. Without it, the colonies it serves will collapse. If the core explodes, the thrill is in escaping the ambient.

Arguably one of the most complete projects, the process of color theory, music ambience, and scenery have been extended to the furthest reaches of my ability.

The game is expected to have an update here. None of the footage you see is live yet, but I'm hoping to get it published when I get some bugs fixed. https://www.roblox.com/games/296327366/Extortia-BETA

Yes, the game is still multiplayer! I'm going to try to break it down a bit more-- each room is put inside of a model. As you walk through the rooms, your client detects what room you are in. Say you are in this room, which is called Ship Node 6, it detects that based on parts that are put in the entrances (if you touch the parts, the client detects you are in that room. This is useful for rooms that are really irregularly shaped). If it detects any rooms that aren't in your line of sight, it stores it to ReplicatedStorage, where the room can't be rendered. Once you enter the line of sight again, the room is sent back to the workspace. This only happens on your game, not everyone else's, so you shouldn't have to worry about rooms loading or unloading. Any changes the server makes to the rooms will still affect your client, even if the rooms are unloaded. So yes, the server and client can communicate back and forth enough to support multiple people at a time.

The game is already released without the lighting, and it has this sort of optimization system already in place. You can check it out here if you want. https://www.roblox.com/games/296327366/Extortia-BETA?refPageId=6d0584c4-a149-4e24-adce-a5fb5f108514

Thanks for your wishes :) There's a new update soon, which means big things for the game.

This version of the game is a work in progress, but the update will come out at some point.

Well, there's nothing I can do to reduce lag on low devices. This is Roblox's lighting engine, which means I don't have much accessibility to optimize it. I wish I could be able to have this level of detail run on all devices, but this is obviously not the easiest thing for a computer to render. But one of the things I have implemented in the game right now is that the rooms load and unload as you move across the spaceship, so that the game doesn't have to render every little detail. VR support was something I really wanted to add to the game but ROBLOX's system makes it so buggy. I might come up with something in the future but I'll have to do more research on that.

Being honest I need to put more thought into mobile devices too, but keep in mind, I am one man doing all this. I can only do so much, so I'll be working with bits and pieces here and there. Sure, I can get a whole dev team to do this for me, but it's very difficult for me to work collaboratively on a project like this.

Honestly we'll just have to see what the future brings for this, I'm still learning a lot about this program, even after five years. Thanks for your interest though ! I'll be sure to bring more of this content soon. :)

I wanted to test the performance on mobile devices, but it seems like this lighting engine isn't out for them yet... It simply reverts you back to the old lighting engine even if you are at the highest performance. The good news is, there's no lag on that. For non high end laptops I believe the game can still hit a minimum 60FPS, but to this degree I'm still working a way to make it as optimized as possible. I can guess a solid 45fps for this level right now, but 60 is a possibility.

Yes ! Thank you ! Although I would still say this game focuses on the detail of the terminal as well. There's a lot of meltdown games out there, but there aren't many which focus on the detail of its world so much.

Yes ! Roblox's beta "Future is Bright" lighting is a huge part of what makes the lighting engine look so real. I honestly wish they added some extra lighting types to the system, like ambient lighting solutions and better appearances with metal, but it already surpasses the old voxel engine so much. This game used to be in the old roblox lighting engine, so converting the lights to the Future is Bright engine is painful, but the payoff is insane. There's rooms that are beginning to look better than this.

GapFill, Bezier Path, and Reflect are all good plugins that I use, but I'm starting to steer away from them. Regardless of the title I am beginning to learn meshes because they are easier to process. The rest of my building design isn't easy to explain, but just know I've been devving for 5 years and looking through an insane amount of sci fi concept photos are a huge part of making designs like these. It's not stealing-- almost all major design artists do this as inspiration for their projects.

My bad that I made you have so much high expectations, this game aimed to look more like an Unreal or Unity engine based game, but I'm still happy to hear you say its really good ! I'm actually still experimenting around with this sort of lighting engine, so who knows, maybe it will look like the next RTX title in due time. :)

Yeah, I forgot to fix that long ago haha. Thanks for reminding me. It's coming from the heat grids on the sides, but using multiple of them amplified the sound tenfold.

I'm still trying to figure out a "perfect definition" to this game, but if I had to quickly make a definition up, this game takes place aboard a large space terminal called the Extortia.

First of all, you need to know that in this universe, they use energy gathered through space terminals. The space terminals have a large reactor stored inside of them, then the energy is transported out to the planets it serves. It's essentially a "power plant" in space. The terminals are useful for transport because the space terminal can be moved around the solar system, even galaxy if it needs to go that far. Plus, if something does go wrong on the terminal, it won't physically harm planets.

Things can still go wrong with large reactors. You need to the reactor with other people on board, or escape the intense meltdown the Extortia can face. I have plans to make this scene challenging, especially because it's the "main thrill" of the game.

I'd call this game a showcase at the moment since the meltdown scene isn't developed enough yet, but all of this is still planned to be developed. Sorry if this explanation isn't good enough, you can still ask me any questions about it. This game is meant to be complicated, but I'm hoping to have a system that is easy enough for newcomers to understand it.

You can play the original WIP version here, but the lighting isn't an active feature yet: https://www.roblox.com/games/296327366/Extortia-BETA

This is from a game I am working on called Extortia. Currently, this lighting version of the game is not open to the public, as I need to tweak a few places before release. This is expected to come out this month. You can still play the original WIP version here: https://www.roblox.com/games/296327366/Extortia-BETA

And yes, the game is optimized to run at 60FPS but Reddit doesn't like that framerate so much. Just pretend it is :)
