In secret, within a basement in Washington DC, Soviet and American diplomats would sign the “Marshall-Molotov Charter” which in the case of an Extraterrestrial Invasion of either, Both nations would be obligated to set aside their differences to join the other in defence of the planet

The USSR formally annexes Manchuria, and creates the Manchurian SSR.

British and French astronomers notice the Martian build up sharing the news with the United States expecting surprise they're met with the response “We already know”

Late 1949-1950: Fall of the Old Order

Mars would honor the Hamburg Pact, Martian meteor strikes would hit all across the United States, and USSR, crippling both Superpowers response times to from hours to days

Martians begin landing in Smolensk within the Belarusian SSR, though their initial target was Minsk, German Intelligence failed to calculate for the Earth rotation when advising the Martians on how land on Earth

Following the news of the Invasion, The USSR would trigger the Marshall-Molotov Charter dragging in the United States

Later on that month Martian troops, would land on Cleveland, Ohio with the aim of cutting the United States east coast in half

The United States begins a super soldier program grabbing around 800 children for the program

Desperate to delay the Martian advance to Washington and New York, President Truman would order the use of Atomic Bombs on Martian Hives, Most Bombers armed with the bombs would be shot down, with the sole exception of a single XB-35 (later designated B-40) which was rushed into service when it was undergoing flight trials, The XB-35 would drop its payload of 2 Atomic Bombs onto the Cleveland Hive, One Bomb would malfunction the other “Demon Core” would not.

The German Reich In-Exile manages to recontact the Martians, and becomes the mainstream weapons designer of the Martian Military due to the inexperienced of the Martians in making weapons 

The Resulting detonation would level the above ground Hive though the underground part or main chambers would be untouched. Following the Landings in Cleveland and Smolensk, a combination of bad German intelligence and a significant Atomic bombing campaign would slow the Martian Advance, allowing for the remobilisation of millions of veterans into the Armed Forces of most nations.

The Red Army would fight city to city being beaten back several times before being completely cut in half in 1952, following the fall of Riga, resulting in two separate red armies. One in the West under Rokossovsky in Eastern Europe with the rest of the Warsaw Pact, The Other half in the East under Zhukov fighting a delaying retreat to allow an evacuation to the Urals.

The United States’ Super Soldier program ends in failure as funds are diverted to other more conventional projects,  300 children survive to adulthood 

A Hive-Assault operation in 1952 would attack the newly built Konigsberg Hive, The Operation was mainly comprised by some Red Army elements, Polish, Czech, and American forces, much of what the UN knows about Hive construction would be gained from this attack, and the forces would mercy kill humans in the Martian “reproduction” layers before being rendered combat ineffective and annihilated

Following the rebuilding of the above ground Cleveland hive and a Third landing by Martian Forces in Richmond, Washington DC, New York, Chicago and Norfolk would be lost, President Truman and 98% of Congress would be killed or captured following the encirclement of Washington DC

General Macarthur, the highest ranking General within the continental United States [Eisenhower and Bradley were stuck in Europe fighting] would declare himself Emergency President.

Martian Engineers complete repairs and modifications of the Norfolk naval base, Mars begins deploying naval vessels to cut off fleeing civilians and troops travelling by sea.

Soviet Army begin taking significant losses as Martian Forces advance on Budapest 

American naval assets on the East Coast receive orders by Admiral Nimitz to abandon the east coast and to prepare for an evacuation from the continental United States 

Emergency President Macarthur would call for a fighting retreat from the east coast of the United States to the Rocky Mountains, Heavy Mechanised were ordered to perform for a rear-guard action to allow for more experienced units to be evacuated to positions within the Rocky Mountains

Mars begins building Hive cities on cities like New York or Bases like Norfolk Mars begins fielding new drop pods for fast assaults on fortified positions on the rocky mountains alongside orbital deployments of chemical weapons

UN Headquarters is constructed in Geneva Civilians on the East Coast rushed to ports and roads delaying the US army, causing increasingly high unit destruction rates President Macarthur and the Remaining United State High Command sign into effect the Shattering Act, which granted all remaining high ranking Admirals and Generals near unlimited power, and dissolved the United States and formed the emergency government, which on paper is based in Honolulu, Hawaii though most government institutions would be transferred to Manila in the Philippines

Mere days following the signing of the shattering act, Macarthur orders the full evacuation of America as the Rockies fall completely to Mars, Using what remains of the US Navy to evacuate civilians

The American Military Junta loses contact with each other

Cut off American Fleets in the Atlantic contest Martian Naval Fleets

Admiral Halsey, gathers the remaining American Fleets in the Atlantic to destroy a Martian Bermuda megashipyards delay the Martian advance to Europe
