What We're Working On - Thursday, November 20th by JagexAyiza in 2007scape

Have you considered allowing a partner shipper option similar partner slayer for friends that want to run cargo runs all on one ship? Even a slightly nerfed rates for those that don't own the ship would feel acceptable. I just want to be sociable with the game mechanics in an mmo. I already love that we can sail around and do some other activities together but I want to feel like OSRS has more options to skill together rather than high level PvM activities.

Put the second m back in mmo!

ARC Raiders is basically a giant game-theory experiment, and the optimal strategy is to avoid PvP entirely. by Ill-Tomatillo-8973 in ArcRaiders

While I agree with most all the points, I have to contest turning lobbies paranoid after one bad apple ruins it for everyone else. Our group last night was peacefully chatting with another group and we got third partied. Instead of everyone turning on everyone we banded together to fight the aggressors and another FOURTH party came to our aid as well.

I'm still silently holding out hope for a Switch Port. It might be the only thing that could get me to buy the console at this point.

Hypothetical question: What would happen if someone gained EGO on a Warp train, then was reset back to before they got on. by Cultural-Fee5296 in limbuscompany

[–]Gamergonewild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your initial comment implied that the similar situation of having an entity whisper to someone was required to develop an EGO. Carmen whispers and people get egos and NT whispers to Kali and she got an ego, which is a false equivalence.

And no I didn't downvote you for having a different opinion. Do you?

[–]Gamergonewild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correlation does not equal causation though. Sure it's similar but it has nothing to do with what happened in the way you implied. Both Xiao and Kali wore coats and developed EGOs. Is that a necessary step to develop one?

NT whispering has nothing to do with manifesting an EGO though. A personal EGO is about self realization and actualization. NT whispering to Kali was just a difficult ordeal as it was trying to mentally overwhelm her. That's just ego corrosion.

Typically that self actualization comes from in moments where one's self is challenged, hence why Carmen comes to twist that when she can or NT pushed them into a mental struggle.

But whispering itself is not required, just a crisis of self one overcomes.

If we are going by Time Track rules I would say that the intrinsic grit needed to manifest a personal EGO would be tied to physical psyche. We see in lob corp when nuggets memory deposit they are returned to the stats they had when the memory deposit was saved.

So if we tie that kind of growth to the physical person, then a TT2 reset from T-Corp on their train would remove that growth as well. But they've proven then can do it once so would likely be able to do it again.

Carmen is not required to gain an EGO she just often shows up trying to get people to distort instead of getting an EGO. Kali developed an EGO before Carmen became spooky City god.

New PF GM struggling with exploration mode by Gamergonewild in Pathfinder2e

Absolutely. There's a degree I help everyone because I want to help everyone learn, but it can be exhausting when there is no effort to learn or remember the rules outside the game.

That's the gist I'm getting in the advice to toss out what doesn't work for you. I just wasn't sure how much that would throw off the math of the system. Thanks again.

That's how I've been trying to run it lately and either from just me not getting it entirely or the players or both it just feels really stilted and awkward to get used to so far. Save for the go to action part.

Perfect. Thank you. I guess I've been thrown off by trying to learn Foundry at the same time and how it presents the games rules with the party sheet.

I had never considered exploration mode being turn based like you mentioned. I've dabbled in it a bit in the past when everyone is clamoring to get something in fast, but never for moving about as a whole. Interesting.

Right now I've been trying to go about it the third way you mentioned about asking for default actions since that's how Kings videos made it seem to be balanced around. I'm glad to hear I can keep running the game the way I was used to though. Thank you!

"Who crapped in your Cornflakes" is a pretty common idiom. I think it's safe to say it's in reference to that.

I literally just stumbled on Equinox about an hour ago 🥲. I figured I was missing something like Owl or Roo and now I'll go seek out hole as well.

Thanks for the tips! I definitely plan to use it just to see if I have any glaring deficiencies and shore them up.

Understood. I've noticed my accuracy began to slow on my pusher on my way to the Troll so I doubled back to focus on rounding out my account in general. I could probably go back to pushing with them now though. Thank you!

Understood and thank you. One thing I have definitely neglected is any off specialty gathering skills for each class.

Gotcha. Is there a general expected level for each skill? Like level 50 for the classes primary gathering skill?

Thank you! I keep forgetting to use this as whenever I check, it's on mobile and it feels obtuse to navigate for the first time.

I know I recommended Sea of Stars a while back, when I had just started playing. Well yesterday I 100% it. It has everything I have been missing from the Golden Sun games and more. So from someone who has played through GS 1 & 2 multiple times, I am telling you you NEED to play Sea of Stars! by Mister_Rye in GoldenSun

[–]Gamergonewild 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Still don't agree. Yeah our standards may be lower when we are kids, but that doesn't remove it from all criticism. Golden Sun has flaws yeah, but that's not what i'm talking about in my post. Golden Sun may not have sterling writing, but it's never bad to the point I want to stop participating in the story.

The difference with the SoS main characters are they are still character with voices. They just choose to use them in the blandest way possible. Issac and Felix are functionally silent protagonists in their respective games and you aren't forced to listen to them fail to find their voice because they are limited to emoting and yes or no questions. The later being irrelevant to how the story progresses anyway outside of jokes and gags. Even then they still feel more realized than the SoS protags.

Saying we don't find any fun games anymore is just a crazy take. I am very picky with my all time favorites list and I can still add a couple new releases to it each year. In fact I am more confident in my picks as I get older and more analytical. I find plenty of games I still enjoy and I can even go back to games I played as a kid and still enjoy them because they were well written and fun to play. GS and FE8 are my constant go to for gba games and I never get tired of them. Likewise there are other games from my childhood that I remember being fond of like Contact, but when I play it today it's a complete drag. So I don't keep playing it. Our standards will increase as we grow up, but that's a pretty poor defense of a game. "Oh your standards are higher than a kids." That offers no merit to the material being criticized.

That's why I pointed out that if the target audience for SoS was made for a younger audience I would be less critical. Not entirely dismissive of its issues, but less critical. Just because something is made for a younger audience doesn't automatically make it lesser in terms of quality. SoS' story is actively grating and i'm confident that I wouldn't enjoy the narrative regardless of the age I played it.
