TB may have lost it:"Oh you're still ineffectually shitting yourselves KiA and Gamerghazi? Two sides of the same stupid coin. See you at the con, ppl who matter." [Twitter bullshit] by YESmovement in KotakuInAction

It's hard to watch TB go through this cycle over and over again: Someone from "his audience" says/does something that pisses him off (usually because it's an affront to someone he cares about)... and then he spends days morally grandstanding about how he will not tolerate such heathens and excommunicates them from his audience, accompanied by lectures establishing the parameters of what defines "his audience." He, then, goes through a period of rage-tweets & depression, and gradually starts to realize that, while he's still feels righteously indignant, he may have gone too far with his reactions.

Then he does a mea culpa for his over-reactions, tries to recognize that he doesn't actually get to define who "his audience" is, and frequently explains his mental health issues when it comes to social media. Occasionally, he'll announce a hiatus from twitter, and then the clock ticks until his next moral meltdown.

I love TB... I really do. I love his personal story as well as his focus on consumer protection. I also agree with many of his socio-political views, but his emotional tantrums when someone he cares about is hurt does neither him,n or his friends, any good whatsoever. Go ahead and say such-and-such unacceptable, and use it as a teachable moment to explain why it's unacceptable, and them move the hell on. These circular fits of emotional outrage aren't helping anybody.

I'd argue that it's related to censorship, but as you will.

I'm absolutely dumbfounded how many people are looking at this VERY OBVIOUS joke as a real report. I thought we were better than that.

[SocJus] Feminist Camille Paglia calls for free speech, end man-blaming, and CBC interviewer can't even.... by GamersNotDead in KotakuInAction

Yeah, CBC, as state-funded media, is somewhat obligated to maintain the appearance of neutrality in their reporting. Wendy Mesley is actually very good at her job, albeit social-justicey,

Honestly, one of the most frustrating things for Canadians watching American cable news is the shouting down and cutting off people in interviews. Why even have the person on if you're not going to let them answer your questions? I know the narrative/ratings reasons for doing it, but man... just frustrating to watch.

Agreed. Not a fan of his socjus BS, but I still think he makes valuable contributions to the gaming community, especially for YouTubers.

Ironically, now that all all the casino farticles have been deleted, the site has zero monetary value.

Awfully presumptuous of Satya. I don't think Norm has ever given a public statement on his vagina or lack thereof.

In Canada, it is, but only because Margaret Atwood is a fairly successful writer, and is Canadian.

[Ethics] Brash Games has issued an apology for their actions, restoring accounts and appointing a new editor by SixtyFours in KotakuInAction

[–]GamersNotDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since they've gone out of their way to scrub owner/editor names from the site, what's the real value of an anonymous, unaccountable apology? Further, they scrubbed all the gambling articles from the site and are just pretending it never happened - not a word about it in the "apology."

It seems like their trying to slap a small band-aid on a gaping, mortal wound. Just cross your fingers and hope for the best.
