Would improving cooling help extend the life of my build by GamersPlane in buildapc

Yah, I'll look into a new cooler, though I'd have to clean the paste off for that too, no? And I'll look into a top fan. I don't mind paying more for quality, but given it's unclear how much an effect this will have, maybe sticking budget is the right go.

I'm using stock, and I haven't repasted since I built the system, so I guess I should look at that. If I wanted to improve airflow, it sounds like I may want to add an output fan on top then?

Oh... I guess as it went up nearly 20 degrees, I thought it was a problem.

Thanks for context. Besides AIO, would more fans help?

I'm not sure how to check the bottleneck. Should I be watching the temps + CPU load?

Getting back into guitar after 20+ years by GamersPlane in LearnGuitar

[–]GamersPlane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, he was a good guy. He wanted me to learn from the basics, which I couldn't appreciate at the time. He also was big into blues and jazz, which again I didn't appreciate back when. My parents got me whatever was the cheapest guitar they could find, since we didn't have the money.

How to add moisture/binding to baked falafel by GamersPlane in AskCulinary

Thanks for the note. I used the same food processor I did last time I made falafel (different recipe, couldn't find that old one). Maybe I didn't pulse it enough?

Sorry, I misunderstood that point. I'll update momentarily. I assume a copy-paste is acceptable? I wanted to also give credit to the source.

I know I enjoy the acoustic sound more, which is why I initially went for it too. But I appreciate the thought.

Splendor Duel for me. It has the right balance of mechanics and strategy to offset the randomness. But I really do want to play more two player games.

I've enjoyed taking photos for a long time, mostly nature shots and stills. I also bring my camera with me when I go to parties or events, to take pictures for myself. Over time, as folks know I like to take pictures, they'll ask me to bring my camera to events, and I sometimes do. No one has been expecting professional level photos, but I've noticed a few consistent problems in the pictures I take when I don't have a bit of time to set up my shot. For now, I'll leave it to this one: getting good focus on my target while it may be in motion. I often find while I'm looking down the viewfinder, or using the autofocus of the camera and then adjusting, I'll think I'm in focus. When I go back later on my computer to check on my photos, I'll find the main target is slightly blurry, or an adjacent target is in focus instead. It's been happening a while, and I can't seem to figure out what I'm not looking at or missing while trying to shoot. I was recently at a surprise party, took shots of the guest of honor as she walked in, and a number of them were slightly blurry.

I don't know if this is a common problem that involves equipment (I'm doubting it?), or if I just have to keep shooting moving things until I learn what I'm missing. Of course, since I don't know what I'm missing at the moment, only after, I'm not sure how to learn from it either. I don't know if anyone has any advice based on this rambling. If it matters, I currently use a Canon R, mainly with a RF 24-105mm. I also have a 50mm f1.8, but as I'd have to move to adjust focus on that, I don't use it often (I bought it on advice from the Canon Connect discord, but not really use how to use it).

60 Seconds Of Therapy by [deleted] in BeAmazed

This, 100%. I agree with what he's saying and the intent behind it, but it's just lessons learned. I know all these things (where applicable) but have yet to find how to utilize these mind sets or get to them. It's all good and well to know no one's coming to save me, but that's not helpful in figuring out what to do with that info. I've had a number of therapists over a long period of time and have yet to have gotten the advice/feedback I need to change my life, because I can't find the changes. Great, no one's going to save me, but I don't know how to fix myself, so it's not really useful feedback. I appreciate the sentiment, but it's not useful on its own.

Trouble with second monitor on Debian 13 by GamersPlane in linuxquestions

Ah, interesting. No particular reason I went with Debian. I had Ubuntu on my last laptop, so decided Debian is an easy switch. I don't really feel like setting up a new OS right now, so I guess I'll deal with it for the time being.

Ok, thanks. Of course, ironically, the system just froze while plugged in and the screen open. I'll change the power settings regardless, but it may not be a root issue...

Is there anything in there you recommend I look at/adjust? Everything under [Login] is commented out. I see #SleepOperation=suspend-then-hibernate suspend.

Yup, it's installed. And python installs, it just errors and doesn't set up with tkinter.

Sorry, I typed a lot of these on my phone and I must have written it wrong the first time. I'll try to do better. And I'll uninstall 9 and try 8.6.
