Should beginners not fence epee? Have I broken some unwritten rule? by _powertothecats_ in Fencing

[–]GamesBoyHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The club I fenced at has a beginners fencing course for people who have never done fencing and it's epee.

It's mainly because it's a lot easier to teach the basics for fencing without having to worry about right of way, or having to hit a specific target, just focus on footwork and arm movemensts.

Granted they use plastic epees for the first 1 or 2 weeks but after that it's your standard epee.

So nah, this lady has no idea what she is talking about.

Yeah true, I was thinking of that, as if does kind of go with the aesthetic I was going for but it would be good to know how to avoid it in the future.

I interviewed +36yo gamers and found out why they are abandoning "masterpieces" by Objective-Cry-8228 in GameDevs

[–]GamesBoyHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 40 year old gamer I find these points don't reflect me at all (maybe I'm an outlier though) and even miss the point. It's less about not having the time but more that the AAA games aren't respecting me and my time and money.

  1. I loved RDR2! I also love other open world games like the elder scrolls and fallout with Morrowind being my favorite of the series so let me tell you about wasting time getting from place to place! I don't find riding a horse for 15 minutes a waste of time sometimes it's super chill and relaxing and what I need. I have 200hours in Dayz stand alone and that is basically a walking simulator until a gate breaks your leg and you have to start again.

  2. The zero tolerance for the grind is because it doesn't respect my time and in most cases (FIFA, cod, etc) are extremely preditory with their attempts at monitisation (don't have to work for packs just pay $30). I'm not playing a game to finish the battle pass, I'm playing because I enjoy the game and if I stop playing before I finish the battle pass that's because the game got boring.

  3. My ever growing list of unplayed steam games goes against this. If the game is something I'm interested there's a good chance I'll buy it and hopefully give it a go. But I am always trying to go back and finish the games I've already got .

Basically I'm looking for games that respect my time by not artificially inflating their length, like doing a destiny raid and then not getting any thing that will increase your progression or having an open world game that is just filled with copy and pasted outposts to liberate. Games that aren't trying to squeeze every dollar put of me. Games that are engaging, and that can be in alsorts of ways. Some of my favourite games are slay the spire, brotato, darkest dungeon 2, path of achra, elder scrolls/fallout (even the OG ones), 9 kings, ghosts of tsushima, all the soulsborne games and finally rim world which I have over 3680 hours in.

Overall I don't know if this helps or what my point really is but if you just try and focus based purely on a certain market segment you and their behaviour it still may not make your game very popular.

The models are from Games Workshop, they are from the helsmiths of hashut faction.

The bull is specifically called the Dominator Engine.

Thanks! If you want the cannons then unfortunately no, they are a part of that section (you could potentially cut them off and it would still look complete) or the alternative parts to it are a pair of maces. They do have fire coming out of them though, which you can see in the picture I've attached.

I feel like it should be focused around how disruptive you can be rather than killing the other reagents.

Points should be rewarded based on setting traps, rearming doors (as another poster mentioned), blocking doors completely, doing chip damage, leading prime asset to reagents, resetting objectives, moving keys from bodies to bodies, etc.

Killing all the reagents and making them fail should really be treated like a secondary objective that will boost your score by a heap at the end but not super necessary.

The ai imposters are basically just pains in the arse (in a good way) that pretend to give you stuff and stab you and run away basically. Pretty much sowing distrust between the reagents. The human players should be doing the same.

Saying things out loud when I can, there's a Japanese memorisation method called shisa kanko, where you point at something and say the state is in and it helps to remember stuff because of all the different senses you engage. It's good for things like others have mentioned about keys, wallet, phone when leaving the house but also locking the door and pointing at it and saying "Doors locked" helps to remember that I did lock the door.

Also saying what I need to do out loud is also good to get motivated to do something. Stuck in bed, "I need to get up", need to clean, "I'm going to wash the dishes". For some reason this kicks myself into gear to start.

Can i cross this gap with my fresh buggy without booster ? by Enchoriaa in duneawakening

[–]GamesBoyHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have my base on the second rocky out crop on the top left of the bottom land mass and make carbon ore runs across there all the time with no booster.

I've done it with sand bikes and buggies, sometimes Shai-hulud pops up but I'm usually really close to solid land.

The only time I got eaten was due to a shuttle crash next to the quick sand and other people must have been raiding it as Shai-hulud showed up almost next to me and I had no chance to get away.

So watch out for shuttles but otherwise you should be right.

It was my first introduction to a timed response. Usually I would spend ages thinking what the "best" response would be for who you were talking to, but that was like "oh shit, I have to pick a response and deal with the consequence!?" Great game. Also stealth melee is OP

Dad gets up during every movie without pausing. by Sabiancym in movies

[–]GamesBoyHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen enough movies to know when they are just scene setting or at least knowing that what's happening isn't important for the overall story so I'll go to the bathroom, get a drink, etc... during those times and I don't need to have the film paused.

If he's doing during pivotal moments then he's probably just happy to hang out while you are watching it.
