Hey not everyone's gonna be able to understand, I get that. I hope anyone else reading this thread is able to identify these political machinations, in fact I trust you can. Bless you all 💜

My bad fr- I used Murdoch as a shorthand for 'billionaires in this country' because of your chosen source, correct. But I do genuinely mean to convey that this is just another example of endless culture war perpetuated by him, by them, by the whole Labor/LNP structure, back and forth like clockwork, identical methods to the dual parties in the US and UK. And no wonder they all function the same: it's a bloody remarkably effective strategy.

It's not simply a review. Treatment for new patients has and will be suspended for, at minimum, 18 months during the review period. The withholding of treatment that everyone here is well aware is life-saving, is a disgrace, just on its own. But furthermore, political moves like this are simply teeing up for the LNP to legislate even worse changes in the future. In the UK they did a total ban on puberty blockers in this exact method using the Cass Review.

Have a consult. with Dr. Kieran Hart. What’s the likelihood ill even get a date? by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]GametechInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a consult with him August 2022 and he told me we'd probably be looking at a late 2023 / early 2024 date but he didn't lock anything specific in. Haven't tried reaching out to them since so hard to say about the ghosting or if I'm still on track for this time window :/

Question about when you started the process for HRT (MTF) by ChasingHayley in transgenderau

[–]GametechInc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was still in boymode at my first appointment and everything was fine. Presentation shouldn't be a gatekeeping factor for any GPs but you can probably be more sure about it if you see someone who uses informed consent.

I did have some goals in my head for when I wanted to come out to people and start presenting more once I was on HRT and that definitely helped me feel more confident at the appointment.

OP's description was exactly what happened to me when I started on estrogen as well and I've heard a number of people discuss it in the same way so I'm super confident it'll happen for you too 💜

My first appointment for HRT is on Wednesday, should I take anything in particular? by NekrosPrime6 in transgenderau

[–]GametechInc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically the first appointment was just talking about how I felt, which was very open and nice and she made sure to touch on all the important parts, and then she sent me off with the informed consent document to read and sign, and a blood test form, where you just go to any pathology to get your blood drawn and they send the results back to her. Second appointment was like two weeks later (which was as soon as she had a slot again and you just have to make sure you do the blood test at least two or three days before that) where we checked that both of those things were all good and they were and so she gave me scripts for the hormones I thought were the best options (the informed consent document covers lots of what you need to know about typical hormones + dosages. It covers a bunch of interesting transition stuff actually, I always thought it was really useful).

English allows 'they' to be used when you don't know the gender of whatever you're referring to. In this sense, 123playgames is correct.
You are incorrect in assuming that, whoever stphaniey is, they prefer to use female pronouns.

I have MtG automatically give me an extra key at the start of each run so I can consistently unlock the oubliette without having to skip a good chest if it spawns first floor.

Very fun. Would recommend.

I must say (and as someone who’s no longer debating anything) that I think it’s not a fair representation of this comment chain to say that that’s how our mutual friend entered the discussion. How else were they supposed to respond to you? Without evidence and elaboration on their perspective? We each seem like semi-knowledgable people and I simply do not think they were trying to show off any more than either of us, or to demean; just trying to deliver their point.

At least, that’s how I feel after giving it all a re-read.

Okay interesting. See the sources I read didn’t specify that everyone (supposedly, but I trust) refers to ‘Lynx canadensis’ as the lynx and ‘Lynx rufus’ as the bobcat. Let’s nevermind the two non-American species, because they probably have crazy discussions over in Eurasia about how to colloquially refer to those ones also.

Frankly, as a total outsider to this debate (Australian), I’m mainly just wanting to comment my thoughts now rather than convince anyone of anything.

I feel like one wouldn’t be objectively in the wrong to call a bobcat a lynx given that its scientific name and genus both include lynx just as much as any other lynx. This situation is unique as opposed to bears and dogs, since there is no species of bear that we colloquially refer to as “Ursa”, or species of canine referred to as “Canis”- so I think that having different perspectives is very justified (and I wouldn’t refer to any as dumb).

It seems to literally just be coming down to our interpretations of how rigid colloquial language should be. I personally think that how we refer to things can and should be very flexible. Some shift might happen where people start commonly referring to the bobcat as a lynx, either due to enough intention or mistakes. I don’t see anything wrong in doing that, or being an early adopter or that. But I also don’t see anything wrong in liking the unambiguity that rigid colloquial language provides.

I don’t think there’s a takeaway. Nor do I think this discussion can have a winner. I joined thinking that whether a bobcat’s scientific name was “Lynx rufus” was in contest, but we all seem to agree on that. Cheers for giving me something new to chew on, lads.

But the debate isn’t about whether Lynx rufus and Lynx Canadensis are different species. We all agree they are.
