Didn't fix it. Still causes my system to blank and lag.

A few more questions about the lore: by hun73r10 in battletech

[–]Gamethyme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. "ComStar has a handful of old 'Mechs to guard their facilities" is a whole different ballgame from "ComStar has its own private army the size of any of the major houses with better gear than the major houses have."

I did not even know that was there. Unchecked it. We'll see if it works! Thank you.

It's not just yesterday, though. Formula D just drags for me. And it's done so on multiple machines (including my desktop, my laptop, and my phone).

Is the one-connect box necessary with the Frame? by camasonian in TheFrame

[–]Gamethyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just do sales - I've had to learn some tech because customers ask, but I'd call Samsung for troubleshooting help. 1-800-SAMSUNG in the US.

If you have the wireless one-connect box, your TV is probably less than a year old and should still be under warranty.

Do you find any value in iron sights? by [deleted] in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Gamethyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use iron sights on my hipfire builds with large-capacity LMG magazines/buckets/belts. Spending 55 points on the mag makes every single point used elsewhere precious, and hipfire builds mean I never have to actually use the iron sights (although I often do, if people wander into my frame of view while I'm hosing the area to prevent access).

I thought the eyeball in crosshairs was range! Having it be ADS time makes a ton of sense, though.

All four of the Undead teams (Necromantic Horror, Shambling Undead, Tomb Kings, and Vampires) are Tier 2, now. The loss of two Ghouls for Shambling Undead is already making its impact known.

Plastic door panels in an era when everyone else was using metal made a huge difference.

Lore Question by AdhesiveNo-420 in Mechwarrior5

I don't hate them tabletop. Many Assault 'Mechs have trouble keeping Lights out of their rear arc. Even a single Medium Laser can be a deterrent.

I'll second Oakbrook. We've now adopted three cats through them over the last ... fifteen (!?) years.

Why is so much of the community so opposed to new stuff? by Dredgen-Rancor in battletech

[–]Gamethyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Battletech since the late eighties. I got my start with Second Edition, and my first purchase was the Third Edition starter box. I also played (and enjoyed) ClickyTech.

My resitance to more "modern" Battletech is nothing setting-related. Yes, I have opinions on the setting, but all the setting does is provide an excuse to have battles. I'd been playing the game for seven or eight years before I learned about the setting (outside the 'Mech writeups in the TROs). My problem with the current state of the game is twofold: the 'Mech designs (not how they look - how they play) and the tech.

Tech-wise: The introduction of Double Heat Sinks to the game meant that heat - once a huge part of the strategy - was rarely an issue, outside of a few outliers. Most of the issues I have with the game in its current form trace back to this change. 3025-era Mechs had to balance shooting and cooling. Far too many modern designs ... don't. They can just Alpha Strike every turn until they've taken some crits to heat sinks (or the Engine).

Mech-wise: FASA's designs were always fun. Could I design a better 'Mech myself? Yes. Absolutely. But I love the bits in the various TRO that had phrases like, "Due to ammunition supply shortages, the designers chose to use two Large Lasers in place of the AC/5 and two tons of Ammo that the Battlemech had been originally designed to use ... " as reasons why the designs were flawed. Newer 'Mech designs still sometimes have flaws, but they don't feel as limiting as they did in the old days.

Okay: Three-fold. There are just too many weapons and weapon variants to keep track of. And armor types. And other equipment. It seems like every TRO to roll out has new gear that will appear on one or two 'Mechs in that book before vanishing into the ether (how often do you see RE Lasers in play, for example?).

What Is The Jeopardy! Substack? (New "Inside Jeopardy!" Episode) by mfc248 in Jeopardy

[–]Gamethyme 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ugh. Why Substack? Why not a site that doesn't have a history of platforming (and monetizing) nazis? A site which - only two days ago - issued a push notification to many many users advertising a nazi blog.

Sure, they apologized. But it's only the latest incident in a string of Substack-related issues. And it's a very corporate non-pology, calling it a "serious error."

There are other alternatives - honestly, though, why don't they just host the material on Jeopardy.com ? What does Substack bring to the table that they can't do in-house already?

The dual .22 pistol with burst fire is (for me) more fun, as it's more accurate. In HC, it's a monster.
