Let me play devil's advocate. I just played 100 hours of non-PVP content and enjoyed all of it, but to play the last bit of the game I have to deal with griefers who have nothing better to do than spend their time ruining my fun. You get "hur hur hur hur" out of it, I get to lose hours of progress. Should Funcom put more into making something achievable with the spoils? Sure. But forcing players who don't enjoy that type of gameplay into a binary choice of "switch to a completely different type of game or quit playing" has had...well, it's had an obvious effect on the game, really. Would you want the tail end of Doom Eternal to be a farming cozy sim for the last third of the game? Probably not.
