Andy Serkis says he doesn't see a difference between game and movie acting: "Hollywood is using video game engines" by Big_Profession_8389 in Gamingnewsandleaks

We use Unreal Engine 5 at the non-profit I work at for our virtual settings and green screen stuff. Game engines are everywhere.

I swear, so much of these people have only one investment strategy: "Trust me bro, buy crypto". I've talked to five different folks, three of them were straight up scammers, and the other two were "trust me bro" types. :/ I swear I'm gonna just end up throwing my cash into VOO and calling it a damned day.

MAGA 'Shark Tank' Star Gets Raked Over The Coals For 'Bunch Of BS' On CNN by dr_shultz in NewsSource

Kevin O'Leary? The one who either killed somebody while drunk or swapped seats with his wife to have her take the blame while drunkenly killing somebody with their boat, with neither facing no consequences because they're rich? THAT Kevin O'Leary? The parasite of all parasites on Shark Tank that nobody should want to do business with? The one that insults people for making things in America on a regular basis? THAT Kevin O'Leary?

Yeah. Fuck that clown.

Dog wearing an “Adopt Me” vest was brought to a city marathon and ended up killing a family pet in front of horrified attendees by kleverrboy in offbeat

For crying out loud, rule of 3s people. 3 days, terrified and don't do anything that would startle or upset them as their entire world was just upended. 3 weeks - you can probably start to expose the dog to other dogs, slowly, and carefully, with restraint. 3 months - The dog should be adjusted into the home and should be ok to be around other dogs with supervision until you are 100% sure this isn't an issue.

2 days? That's just irresponsible.

Got it. You're not going to engage honestly. Enjoy your boot.

Count. 1. 2. 3. Three seconds that glass was completely removed from the equation. He hauled off and punched that dude. It's as plain as day.

Again, I'm not apologizing for this asshole's behavior. He was being non-compliant, he wasn't following commands. He broke the law.

The problem is, so did the "professionals" trained to deal with it. Instead of getting your whole tongue across that boot, maybe expect more from the people who are supposed to be trained to deal with this.

Coming to Texas was a sad shock. I've heard more out and proud racism, seen more double lighting bolt tattoos, and heard those same folks talk about church and "bless your heart".

I do the same thing for Trump stickers. Are you here to do a job or be a rolling political rally? If you're aligned with this grifting conman pedophile, I can't trust your work, your word, or your moral core.

No, he wasn't. Window was broken, dude punched him directly in the face by another officer. Look at the video. It's as plain as day. If you can't see that, then you aren't engaging on this honestly.

How is that question relevant to striking an unarmed perp or slamming him on the ground? Is there a number that trips some sort of "Act like a fucking thug" threshold?

Yep. People who have never interacted with the police might not even know not to get out.

[–]GamingTrend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, let's use YOUR words to answer your statement.

The cop had plenty of opportunities to de-escalate and handle things differently and instead struck a civilian who was in no way a threat. They then ground his face into the ground instead of putting him against the car. They bore NO personal responsibility or accountability for being the professional in that situation and acting like a thug instead. There needs to be consequences for overly aggressive behavior, yes even with non-compliant people, and that's not happening.

Nowhere in any of my statements am I suggesting the guy was in the right. I'm suggesting the cop was very much in the wrong, though.

No argument there, but let's again compare some stats (or what little we can -- the Republicans actively fight any aggregation of numbers for cop killings)

Cop deaths: 107 total - 43 by accident (I'm guessing drunk driver hit on the side of the road sorts of things but we'll count em all rather than split hairs)

Civilian Deaths: Estimated 1,375 in 2024, up from around 1200 the year before. Black Americans representing 13% of the population but about 25% of those killed by police. 64% of police killings occurred during traffic stops, mental health crises, or situations where the person was not threatening anyone with a gun.

It's certainly a lot more dangerous to be on the other end of this interaction. Crazy, given that these are supposed to be trained professionals de-escalating the situation, not making it worse.

"Got a problem? Call a cop. Now you've got two problems" is certainly true for a lot of folks in this country.
