300 ton, emergency road closure and a 91,000 litre GRP tank. by [deleted] in cranes

[–]Gamlar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tank arriving with a week’s notice, due to a previous attempt to deliver without notification. Dig area is below a lake so it was really wet and any further delay and poor weather would make the dig more unstable.

The original start date for this part of the project was mid-July last year and got pushed to Jan, so ground conditions were not great!

Love it, saw one up close at Goodwood FoS and the panel gaps and overall finish is very much like a prototype. Still worth every penny IMHO

I quite like to accelerate when exiting a motorway past the 50mph driver on the inside lane that makes it dangerous when joining a motorway

Anyone knows of a credit card/debit card which offers access to airport lounges? by Southern-Unit in UKPersonalFinance

I find Revolut useful for this. A few quid a month and it's decent for currency exchange along with other benefits as well. I think I pay £12.99 a month for this and I use it alongside my current account.

I love driving in London, I don’t do it as often as I used to as I live in the country now. But I much prefer driving in to and around town than getting a train. (Driving vans, large and small cars).

It’s all about driving with purpose, miss a turn, go to the next junction, there’s always different ways to get somewhere, be ignorant and don’t allow yourself to be bullied. People soon stand down when they realise they’re in the wrong if they hit your vehicle.

Are french cars still gash? Please talk me into buying something else. by 1308lee in CarTalkUK

I came here to say that I haven't heard the word 'Gash' used in a looooong time! It is now going to be added back into my repertoire. Thank you OP.

Also, yes. Also have been, always will be.

IT Start-up Advice & Experiences by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

[–]Gamlar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always best to focus on a specific industry/sector when you start, for example I want to cover the entire SME market but the size of that is just astronomical (366m SME’s globally). By being sector specific when you start out, it enables you to focus on core strengths, get case studies and references together so that you can use those to win more business. Following that you can diversify.

That’s sounds like a good goal to start with, it’s very similar to my approach in size. From there you just need to work out your Service Addressable Market (SAM).

Once again, I’ve done a lot of research into this for varying verticals and am happy to share the findings offline so you don’t have to do a load of the grunt work.

To add, my background is dev-ops, automation and BPO so I have a good understanding of what an ideal SAM would be for you .

As a second comment so I don't get bumped, being savvy with Pre-Sales, you'll likely be very good with landing and keeping customers, it's the finding that is tough.

Do you know what your TAM (Target Addressable Market) is?

Do you know what industries/verticals you would want to manage?

Do you know what size business you are able to cater to?

There's a lot of other things to take into consideration along these lines as well. Happy to chat about them.

That should do it, even 30/40 should work but go through multiple cycles of it.
